Kanye West Allegedly Sends Kim Kardashian Cease and Desist Over Met Gala, Questions Kids Welfare: Report

Kanye West reportedly sent ex-wife Kim Kardashian a “cease and desist” letter in an alleged breach of their custody arrangements.

“This letter constitutes a formal demand to cease and desist from actions that violate Mr. West’s parental rights, exploit his children, and breach the joint custody agreement established in your client’s divorce settlement, finalized November 29, 2022,” a memo obtained by TMZ from West’s attorney and sent to Kardashian’s read.

Us Weekly has not been able to verify the legal documents despite multiple calls to lawyers’ offices.

West, 47, and Kardashian, 44, share daughters North, 11, and Chicago, 7, as well as sons Saint, 9, and Psalm, 5. The rapper’s lawyer, Kathy Johnson, detailed many alleged “violations” that they claim breach the exes’ divorce settlement.

Kanye West didn’t hold back about his issues regarding custody of the four children he shares with ex-wife Kim Kardashian. West, 47, went on a rant in a livestream from Wednesday, April 30, where he spoke out about allegedly not being able to see his kids: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5. […]

“On or about May 5, 2025, your client brought North West to the Met Gala in New York City, exposing her to significant media attention,” the letter states. “Reports indicate that North was left unattended in a vehicle during portions of the event, posing risks to her safety. Additionally, your client has published or authorized the publication of North’s images and videos on social media platforms, including TikTok, despite Mr. West’s explicit objection to his children’s presence on such platforms.”

Kardashian attended the 2025 Met Gala solo on Monday, May 5. While it is not known whether the preteen was waiting in a car during the soirée, Kardashian did reveal that North joined her in the Big Apple via both social media footage and red carpet interviews.

“Every time I come to the Met, I love bringing my oldest daughter with me,” Kardashian told Vogue on Monday. “To see me get ready, and all her aunties [Kendall and Kylie Jenner] are in the hotel, and we’re all getting ready together, so it’s just a fun few days.”

In West’s letter, he condemned Kardashian for sharing footage of North in NYC on social media. While the Skims mogul has not responded to West’s legal motion, she previously defended allowing North to post videos on a joint “Kim and North” account.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have spoken candidly about coparenting since their February 2021 split — but it hasn’t always gone smoothly. The reality star and the rapper, who tied the knot in 2014, share four children: North (born in June 2013), Saint (born in December 2015), Chicago (born in January 2018) and Psalm (born […]

“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” Kardashian said in a February 2022 statement. “As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness. Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.”

She added, “It is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way. I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately.”

Kardashian and West have joint legal and physical custody of their four children, though the Grammy winner claimed in his May letter that he “has been denied meaningful access,” including no contact with Saint.

Amid Kanye West‘s controversial public and social media behavior, Kim Kardashian might take legal action to get full custody of their kids. One month more before West’s recent social media posts, multiple sources told Us Weekly that Kardashian, 44, is “considering” filing for “full custody” of her and West’s kids: North, 11, Saint, 8, Chicago, […]

“His interactions with North, Chicago and Psalm have been unreasonably restricted,” the letter claims. “This violates the custody agreement’s provisions for equal parental access and decision-making.”

West further accused Kardashian of exploiting the kids and their likenesses at public events without his consent for “personal or commercial gain.” He demanded that Kardashian stop posting photos of their children on all social media platforms, avoid bringing North to public events without his approval and “facilitate regular and unimpeded” access to North and her siblings.

Kardashian has not publicly responded to West’s requests. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.
