A former kindergarten teacher at a Christian private school in Indiana was ordered to serve 40 days of a four-year sentence behind bars after she pleaded guilty to one count of felony child seduction.

Torrie Lemon, 24, pleaded guilty to the charge on Thursday, May 14, according to a sentencing order obtained by PEOPLE, which notes that following her 40 days jailed, she would be placed on probation for a period of 1,420 days.

According to the order, she spent 30 days in jail from April 16 to May 14 and earned 10 days of good time credit, thus allowing her to avoid any additional jail time.

Lemon was employed as a kindergarten teacher at Colonial Christian School in Indianapolis, Ind., when she became sexually involved with a 17-year-old student at the school.

The school wrote in a May 14 statement obtained by PEOPLE that after staff became aware of “misconduct involving a teacher” on April 10, 2025, they “took immediate action, placed the teacher on leave, and contacted the Indiana Department of Child Services, and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. The teacher’s employment was terminated.”

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Hamilton County and obtained by PEOPLE, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department began investigating that same day.

The affidavit alleges that a school staff employee told police he became aware of an inappropriate video on the victim’s phone while they were on a school trip to South Carolina.

Lemon was on the trip as a chaperone, per the affidavit.

“[The employee] believes a sexual relationship has been occurring over the last few months,” the affidavit states. “[The employee] also explained that Ms. Lemon was being sent home from South Carolina on leave and Victim was being picked up by her parents at a later time.”

According to the affidavit, Lemon spoke to a South Carolina police officer and admitted that she “was having an inappropriate relationship with a student from our school.”

“Ms. Lemon said the relationship had been going on for about 2 months,” the affidavit states. “[The officer] asked how their relationship started and Ms. Lemon said they started out as friends but eventually they would hug and hold each other longer and a kiss on the cheek turned into more.”

An Indianapolis detective spoke with the victim on April 14, who allegedly said the school discovered the misconduct after a friend on the South Carolina trip borrowed her phone and found a hidden folder of her and Lemon kissing. The friend told the school employee who then reported it to the police, per the affidavit.

The victim said she started spending time with Lemon in January. “She said they started out as just friends,” the affidavit states. “Victim advised she never intended their relationship to be sexual, and they wanted it to just be a friendship because they knew it was wrong.”

The misconduct allegedly occurred at Lemon's apartment on the grounds of Colonial Christian School and church and the victim's home, according to the affidavit.

When interviewed by police, the victim's mother said “she didn’t know the extent of the relationship between Ms. Lemon and Victim and that Victim insisted it was just a friendship,” the affidavit alleges.

The mother allegedly told the detective that she "noticed that their friendship seemed to progress fast because Ms. Lemon brought her flowers and was giving Victim gifts within a couple weeks. Victim’s mother advised she didn’t know when the relationship became physical, but she noticed that Victim and Ms. Lemon were on the phone all the time.”

The victim’s father said his daughter and Lemon would sit very close together when watching movies at their home and that his daughter at one point mentioned to him that the age of consent in Indiana is 16, according to the affidavit, which states police recovered several text messages sent by Lemon to the teenager, which included one that read: “I love you more than I can describe. I love my girl.”

Other messages she sent discussed “climaxing” and “laying in bed” with the victim, per the affidavit.

Lemon also has two child seduction charges pending against her in neighboring Marion County, FOX 59 reported.

While the probable cause affidavit filed in Marion County contained the same information as Hamilton County court documents, prosecutors have clarified that they are additional and separate charges, according to the outlet.

Online court records show Lemon filed a plea agreement in Marion County on Feb. 24, 2026, and a jury trial was scheduled to begin on March 11; however, it was delayed.

The records now show that Lemon is set to appear in a Marion County court on May 22 for a change of plea hearing.
