Liam Gallagher Apologizes If He ‘Offended Anyone’ After Racial Slur Tweet: ‘I Love You All and I Do Not Discriminate’

Liam Gallagher would like to apologize.

On Tuesday, July 1, the lead singer of Oasis shared a post on X with an offensive slur used to mock people of East Asian descent, according to Daily Mail, NME, The Independent and screenshots on social media. He later issued an apology.

After Liam posted the slur, several of his fans called the musician out on social media. “Liam [you] gonna get canceled today,” read one reply, to which the English musician responded, “Whatever.”

“Liam you can’t say that,” wrote another fan, and Liam replied, “Why.”

“Cuz it’s racist,” said another social media user. The “Wonderwall” singer wrote back, “Behave.”

“Are you kidding me youre gonna offend your own fans liam dont start,” posted another fan. Liam responded, “Chill out Birdy.”

Hours later, Liam posted a follow-up note. “Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate,” he wrote. “peace and love LG x.”

According to Hong Kong News, some fans are now calling for the boycott of Oasis’ upcoming Asian tour dates.

Reps for Liam did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Liam and his brother, Noel, are currently gearing up to embark on Oasis’ reunion tour, which launches on Friday, July 4 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, U.K.

The tour continues through the end of November with shows throughout Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Oceania.

The brothers’ relationship has been turbulent for years, and the upcoming tour marks their first together since Oasis’ initial split in 2009.

In October, Liam told a fan why they won’t hear much from the brothers before the tour starts. In a post shared to X, he wrote, “We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship.”
