Man Accused of Attacking Couple with Baseball Bat Following Dispute Over Wi-Fi: Reports

A Kentucky man is accused of assaulting two people with a baseball bat following a disagreement about Wi-Fi access.

Jonathan Gross, 44, was arrested on Sunday, May 3 after police say he used a bat to hit a couple in an apartment after he was unable to use their Wi-Fi, reported WDKY, citing an arrest citation.

One of the alleged victims told authorities that Gross hit him and his girlfriend in the head with the bat, the outlets reported, citing police sources. When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a woman sitting outside the apartment, bleeding from her head, reports WKYT.

After the alleged attack, Gross reportedly told the man and woman that he would kill them if the Wi-Fi was not turned back on by the time he got to his room. 

When authorities arrived, the 44-year-old allegedly refused to come out of the room, prompting police to go in and arrest him. He was placed in custody at the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Gross was charged with two counts of attempted murder, second-degree disorderly conduct, two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening, and alcohol intoxication in a public place, according to online jail records viewed by PEOPLE.

He is being held on a $1 million cash bond, per the records.

It is not immediately known if Gross has retained legal counsel.

Online records viewed by PEOPLE showed Gross has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 13 at 1:30 p.m.
