A man is accused of having stabbed a couple when he spotted their dog urinating on the grass near his house in Queens, N.Y.

Hakeem Alexander has been charged with three counts of assault after he was accused of having stabbed the 39-year-old man and a woman outside of his residence on 229th Street on Thursday, April 23, WABC reports, citing the NYPD.

The couple were seen on surveillance video at approximately 11 a.m. local time walking their dog, a French bulldog, by the home on 229th Street near 141st Avenue, according to the outlet. Two men from the house, one believed to be Alexander, 34, are then seen promptly confronting the couple, with one of them seen apparently urinating on the victims' neighboring lawn before the violence ensued.

The woman, whose identity has not been made public, allegedly is seen hitting the man believed to be Alexander in the back, resulting in him promptly stabbing her in the hand. The suspect then stabbed her partner, whose identity has also not been released, in the back. A man believed to be Alexander's 62-year-old father was also stabbed in the hand when he intervened, according to WABC and The New York Post, who cited the NYPD.

The three individuals who were stabbed were brought to Jamaica University Hospital Medical Center, per the outlets. They remain in "stable condition."

The NYPD recovered the knife used to carry out the stabbings at the scene, according to WABC.

"It's really senseless to get violent and go to that extreme over something like that," neighbor Bobby Sauro told WABC.
