Man Allegedly Stabs His Cousin to Death in Dispute Over Cellphone Charger: Reports

Nashawn Williams, 24, was identified as the victim in the incident, according to multiple local media outlets

Police in Jamaica are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed a family member to death during a dispute over a cellphone charger.

According to local media outlets The GleanerThe Jamaica Observer and TVJ, the incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 29, in Boscobel, St Mary, around 48 miles north of the capital Kingston.

The victim has been identified as Neshawn Williams, also known as ‘Checo,’ per the outlets. The Observer reports that Williams was 24 years old.

Police have since launched a manhunt for a male family member who allegedly stabbed Williams. 

According to a police report, per The Gleaner, at about 1:20 p.m. local time, Williams and a family member got into an argument over a cellphone charger.

The dispute occurred at home between Williams and his cousin, who then allegedly stabbed Williams with a knife, per the Observer.

Superintendent Anthony Wallace, head of the St Mary Police division, said the argument escalated into a physical confrontation “during which a knife was brought into play and Williams was stabbed in the abdomen,” per The Gleaner.

Williams was taken to the Port Maria Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Observer.

TVJ reported that the suspect fled the scene.
