A man was in need of surgery after he was shot over Pokémon cards.

On Saturday, April 11, two Kroger customers were in the store's parking lot in Indianapolis when one man shot another. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) was alerted to the shooting around 6:51 p.m. local time, and upon their arrival, found the victim suffering gunshot wounds, WTHR reported.

The victim was in "serious but stable" condition and was transported to a local hospital. There, he underwent surgery and is now in "stable" condition, according to Local 12. Meanwhile, the suspected shooter was detained at the scene, and two pistols were taken as evidence.

IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer said that the preliminary investigation found that the argument and subsequent shooting began after the two involved allegedly argued over Pokémon cards, Fox 59  reported. "It wasn’t like someone was trying to steal one from another person," Capt. Weilhammer said.

“If it does turn out to be an argument over the Pokémon cards, I think it’s totally ridiculous,” Capt. Don Weilhammer said. “I’m not a collector of them. I understand that some of them are very expensive." The investigation remains ongoing.

A witness who was exiting the store at the time of the argument saw one of the men hit the other. “He said the guy cut me in line and it’s all over a Pokémon machine," the witness told WISH.
