Maria Bartiromo’s lawyer is speaking out after an exit announcement from Fox News Media.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, Fox News Media announced that it had parted ways with Bartiromo, 58, who spent more than 12 years at the network. A day later, the anchor’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, claimed in a statement to PEOPLE that reports that she was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are false.

“For many years, Maria Bartiromo hosted three number-one-rated television shows on Fox channels. She has been, without question,  one of the hardest-working journalists throughout her award-winning career,” the statement reads.

“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false. Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”

In its Sept. 3 statement, Fox News Media said, “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.” The company’s press release read that the network “parts ways” with Bartiromo and that the change was “effective today.” The network did not give a reason for the exit.

The journalist joined Fox in 2014 as Fox Business Network’s global markets editor. Bartiromo hosted Mornings with Maria and Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, and anchored Sunday Morning Futures

According to Fox’s announcement, Mornings with Maria will transition to Mornings with FOX Business and will feature a lineup of rotating anchors. Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street will be renamed FBN’s Wall Street, with Cheryl Casone hosting its return and rotating anchors coming on thereafter, the Fox release said.

Additionally, the release said, Jason Chaffetz will host Fox News Channel’s Sunday Morning Futures on Sunday, Sept. 6. The network says it will announce a new host at a later date.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, President Donald Trump shared a post on Truth Social, in which he praised Bartiromo for her work with the network.

“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump wrote. “Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior.”

“Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he concluded.
