Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry are continuing to work through their marital issues.
In the fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which started streaming on Hulu on Sept. 10, Matthews, 26, opened up about where she stands with her husband, 31. The update came six months after the revelation that the pair had temporarily separated due to intimacy issues.
“Obviously, last time you saw me, I was moving into an Airbnb,” she says in a confessional while footage — filmed in October 2025 — showed her moving out of her home with Terry. “When Jace and I were separated, I feel like I got a lot more clarity, and so I was able to express more what I needed to Jace, and we kind of talked about, with the separation, ‘Okay, well I have to focus 100% on my health because I’m still in a traumatic state with my health.’ ”
Added Matthews: “He’s been very supportive.”
Later in the season, while the group is at Liann’s 50th birthday celebration, Matthews makes a comment suggesting she and Terry are still together, saying, “I guess I’m the only one that has a husband these days.”
Throughout season 3 of Mormon Wives, the pair openly discussed their intimacy issues in their marriage, which stemmed from Matthews being sexually abused during her childhood. In season 4, which was released in March, Matthews revealed in a confessional that the pair decided to separate.
During an interview with PEOPLE in March, days before the premiere of Mormon Wives season 4, Matthews acknowledged that unpacking her trauma surrounding the sexual abuse she experienced was “still new to me” and “new to him” — referencing Terry, adding, “We’re just navigating it the best way that we can.”
But she told Entertainment Tonight in an interview released on March 12 that she and Terry were “still together,” calling their relationship a “work in progress.”

Celebrating his birthday on June 23, Matthews even called her husband “the best dad” and her “favorite person in the world.”
Terry also came to his wife’s defense as she publicly feuded with her Mormon Wives castmate Taylor Frankie Paul in May. Responding to a fan’s TikTok calling out Matthews for comments she had made about Paul, Terry fired back: “[Paul] also is notorious for blasting people publicly w/o private communication. The way you defend Taylor is genuinely like she’s a cult leader. Both her and Mikayla are going to make mistakes.”
All episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 5 are available to stream on Hulu.
