It’s a mainstay in my outfit rotation
NEED TO KNOW
- A shopping writer reviews Quince’s Mongolian Cashmere Tee.
- She’s worn the all-season staple so much that she ordered more in spring colors.
- Mindy Kaling also owns the $45 top.
When I like a piece of clothing, I buy it in as many colors as possible. My earliest memory of this is from middle school, when I became obsessed with a particular pair of gaucho pants. Now, as an adult, I still have an “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” mentality about my wardrobe. That’s exactly why I just placed an order for two more of Quince’s Mongolian Cashmere Tees.
I first tried the chocolate-brown shirt Mindy Kaling owns this past fall, and I can’t get enough of the cuddly yet durable fabric. When I noticed it dropped in new seasonal colors like cream and baby blue, I knew I had to add them to my spring collection, too.

When I first saw this shirt on Kaling over the summer, I was intrigued. I run hot, so I couldn’t imagine reaching for a sweater in July, even if it has short sleeves. That is, until I got the chance to try it. The Mongolian cashmere is show-stoppingly soft and surprisingly lightweight. Because of the weave, air easily moves through the fabric, so it feels breathable and doesn’t trap heat, which is ideal for spring and summer outfits.
During the colder months, I wore it with blazers and other sweaters in my closet to stay warm. Now that the blue and cream options are on their way to me, I’m already dreaming of styling them with maxi skirts, linen pants, jeans, and shorts. There’s no wrong way to wear this top, and it looks way more polished than the cotton T-shirts I usually wear. I’m a size 16/18 and was happy to find the shirt available in plus sizes. I opted for the 2X, which is a bit loose on me, so this time around, I’m trying the 1X for a more tailored look.
While I love the feel of cashmere and own many of Quince’s rich-looking options, I procrastinate wash day because it can be a bit of a hassle. That’s not an issue with this top. I hand-wash it as the brand recommends, and it’s airy enough to dry quickly, unlike bulkier long-sleeve sweaters. I even wore it to get my hair cut and colored, and at the end of my appointment, I found a big red dye spot on the back and thought it was ruined. However, it rinsed out easily, and the shirt looks like new — even though I’ve worn it at least twice a week since receiving it in the fall.
I’m far from the only fan of this versatile tee. Like me, one reviewer recommended others “go ahead and get one in every color.” Another person said they love it so much that they bought 10 and noted that it's “super soft and goes with everything.”
Many colors are selling fast, so make sure to snap up this all-season classy tee for just $45. Ahead are more lightweight cashmere finds I’m eyeing from Quince.
