As King Charles and Queen Camilla prepare for their state visit to the United States of America in late April, new details have been unveiled about their trip.
On Tuesday, April 14, Buckingham Palace released more information about the royal couple's stops for the tour, which will run from April 27 to April 30, before continuing on to Bermuda on May 1 and May 2. The trip comes in the year that commemorates the U.S.'s 250th anniversary of independence during the reign of King Charles’ ancestor King George III.
The palace confirmed that the visit will take them to Washington, D.C., where the King, 77, and Queen, 78, will be welcomed by President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump with a private tea. Later in the day, the royals will attend a garden party, bringing together guests representing the connections between our two countries.
That evening, there will be a formal ceremony at the White House, including a ceremonial military review, before a meeting between King Charles and President Trump while Queen Camilla and the first lady also get together.

King Charles will also deliver an address to Congress, marking only the second time a British monarch has addressed a joint meeting, after Queen Elizabeth’s speech at the Capitol during her 1991 state visit to the U.S. Afterward, the royals will return to the White House for a state dinner hosted by the Trumps.
Also in Washington, D.C., King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to lay a wreath and flowers in honor of the fallen, marking the military partnership between the U.K. and the U.S.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will also visit New York City. There, they'll commemorate those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and meet serving first responders and the families of victims ahead of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack later this year.
The royal couple will then split up for individual engagements, with the monarch heading to a grassroots community organization working to mentor children affected by food insecurity through a sustainable urban farming after-school initiative as well as an event with business leaders. Meanwhile, the Queen will attend an event celebrating one of her key causes, literature, including A.A. Milne’s children’s stories featuring Winnie the Pooh, who marks his 100th birthday this year.
The King and Queen will reunite to conclude their New York leg with a reception celebrating the work of The King’s Trust in shaping the lives of young people across America.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will then head to Virginia, where they'll attend a block party to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
King Charles is also set to visit a national park to meet one of the area’s indigenous communities involved in conservation initiatives, while Queen Camilla will visit a farm to highlight the work of America’s horse racing industry.

After three days in the U.S., King Charles and Queen Camilla will head to Bermuda, marking Charles' first trip as monarch to a British Overseas Territory. Their two days there will include taking part in a classroom session run by the Bermuda Zoological Society, celebrating Bermuda’s arts and culture, viewing a museum exhibition dedicated to Bermuda's history and formally opening the new Great Bay Coast Guard Station.
The trip to the United States will be the King's first state visit to the U.S. His mother undertook four outward state visits to the U.S. in 1957, 1976, 1991 and 2007. As Prince of Wales, Charles has been 19 times, including with Camilla on what was their first foreign tour as husband and wife in 2005.
There's also a chance that Prince William could be planning a trip across the pond in the coming months. As a soccer super fan and patron of the Football Association, the Prince of Wales may attend the FIFA World Cup.
