Nicole Brydon Bloom is opening up about motherhood after welcoming her first child with husband Justin Theroux.
Bloom caught up with PEOPLE exclusively during the 2026 BAFTA TV Tea Party at The Maybourne in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Sept. 13. During the conversation, the actress shared what she found most surprising about becoming a mom following the birth of her son in April.
“I just think your capacity to love grows so much bigger,” Bloom, 32, told PEOPLE.
“I mean, I have a beautiful little niece and nephew who I adore, and I just didn’t think I could love anything more than that. And I don’t love him more, but I love him differently, and waking up with him every morning and getting him out of bed when he starts kicking and smiling is just — it’s the best part of my day,” she added.

She also described motherhood as “wonderful.”
“Our boy is beautiful and funny and so happy and we’re in a great little bubble,” she said.
The Paradise actress also revealed that while she “was working a lot this summer,” she’s currently been enjoying downtime with her “little guy.”
Theroux, 55, previously opened up about fatherhood during an appearance on Today on April 23, just five days after he became a dad for the first time.
“It’s so much better [than I imagined],” Theroux said. “And, of course, I’ve been told by other fathers, ‘Wait ‘til you see this child. You’re gonna fall in love.’ And you still always have that little moment of, ‘Is that really going to happen?’ and the minute he appears, your whole life just starts to revolve around this thing, and your heart just opens up in a beautiful way.”

“So I’m really happy, really happy,” he added.
PEOPLE initially confirmed that Bloom and Theroux were expecting a child together in December 2025 after Bloom posed with her baby bump on the red carpet at the Fallout season 2 premiere in Los Angeles.
She posted about their growing family in an Instagram post later that month, sharing a carousel of photos of herself and Theroux vacationing on what appeared to be a tropical getaway, her baby bump on full display.
“So much fun to revisit our favorite place with a little one on the way 🕊️👶🏼,” she captioned the post.
Bloom and the Running Point actor first sparked romance rumors in February 2023 when they were spotted at a Netflix event together. They were then photographed sharing a kiss in August of that year during a double date in New York City.
The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars party in coordinated black ensembles.

Theroux proposed in Italy while they were there for the Venice Film Festival, where Bloom was photographed wearing an engagement ring that featured a 4-carat emerald-cut diamond and a band with both his and her birthstones.
