My favorite addition to my wardrobe this summer? Several pairs of delicate yet walkable ballet flats.
And I’m not the only one reaching for this footwear style. Well-dressed A-listers like Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie have worn them everywhere from courtside events to airport terminals. I even tracked down the exact pair of Mary Jane sneakers that I saw Jennifer Lawrence strolling in and the podiatrist-approved square-toe flats Katie Holmes scooped up a bouquet of blooms in. Below, shop summer-friendly ballet flats that will transition seamlessly for upcoming fall ensembles. Prices start at just $20.

Cushionaire Witty Woven Ballet Flats

$80 $50 at Amazon
At this year’s Wimbledon, Kidman made a sophisticated statement with a tailored blazer and trousers. To complete the ensemble? A pair of woven ballet flats. This adorable style by Cushionaire reminds me of hers thanks to its breathable woven construction and subtle bow. Note: Some shoppers agree that the shoes fit a half size small.
Salomon RX Marie-Jeanne Sneakers

Lawrence convinced me that I need a pair of her Salomons expeditiously. They’re all the cuteness of a ballet flat with the stability of a sneaker. Plus, there are no shoelaces to worry about untying while you’re running errands or riding a bike. Other bonus points go to the mesh upper, which keeps your feet from overheating, as well as the cushy insole. According to an art teacher, the shoes keep their feet “very comfortable” after “more than 8 hours of standing and walking.”
Vivaia Square-Toe Margot 3.0 V-Cut Flats

$129 at Vivaia.com
Holmes is proof that podiatrist-approved shoes don’t have to look dumpy. The flats, which Aubrey Plaza has also worn, are made of a soft fabric and showcase a square-toe design. Compared to its beloved predecessor, the Margot 2.0, this upgraded version has been subtly tweaked with an even roomier toe box (especially nice for wide feet), 20 percent more footbed cushioning, and enhanced arch support. The style is also available in a vibrant red, classic black, subtle ivory, and playful pale blue.
There are more celeb-inspired ballet flats to explore, including a lookalike for Cameron Diaz’s sleek pointed-toe shoes and an under-$20 style that reminds me of ones I’ve seen on Zoë Kravitz.
