Nikki Glaser is opening up about how she deals with feeling like an imposter when surrounded by industry greats.
At Netflix Is a Joke's Night of Too Many Stars event at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Wednesday, May 6, Glaser performed alongside plenty of her fellow comedy greats — Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, Steve Carell, Tiffany Haddish, Jimmy Kimmel, John Mulaney and Ali Wong among them.
“You always have imposter syndrome on nights like these,” the comedian, 41, tells PEOPLE.
“To feel like I'm on the same lineup as them,” she adds, “It's just too much to take in. I don't think about it too much. I just think, ‘Who did I trick? How lucky am I to have gotten to this place tonight?'”

As when she hosted the Golden Globes ceremony the past two years, Glaser is always in awe of Hollywood greats — even as she's roasting them onstage. A star-studded event like the Night of Too Many Stars is a “moment you always dreamed about, if you ever made it to this level, of the people you get to hang out with,” she says. “I'm just gonna be kind of a wallflower and observing more than inserting myself into anything.”
Glaser is “literally starstruck,” she adds, listing a few of the event attendees: Conan O'Brien, for one, and Dylan Aguilar from Netflix reality hit Love on the Spectrum. “I almost started crying,” she admits. “This is my favorite show, so I'm already, like, in heaven right now.”

Glaser often has moments of awe in her line of work. After calling out Leonardo DiCaprio at the Golden Globes this January for how little people know about him — jokingly asking if he still likes pasta, based on an interview he gave as a teen — the Oscar winner sent her three baskets of pasta in response.
"I don't dwell on it too much because it kind of trips me up, just having any kind of correspondence with Leonardo DiCaprio," Glaser tells PEOPLE. Again, a form of imposter syndrome can't help but kick in: "It shouldn't be happening. How did I get here?"
