Noah Wyle has scored his second-consecutive acting Emmy for The Pitt.
The Pitt star, 55, won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the medical drama at the 78th annual Emmy Awards on Monday, Sept. 14.
“This is overwhelming,” Wyle told the crowd during his emotional speech. “I have to acknowledge the work of my fellow nominees. Your work is inspirational. I watch you, I learn from you. In particular, Mr. [Gary] Oldman: I have to tell you, I don’t know if there’s an actor my age [who didn’t] look at Sid and Nancy and think, ‘That’s the benchmark that I want to hit one day in my career.’ ”

Wyle then nodded to “all the men and women who work so hard” on The Pitt, noting that they were planning on getting back to work for more “hard stuff” the next day.
“I grew up in L.A. I’m a Hollywood kid,” he said. “I was raised on a television and movie theaters were my place of worship. This is all I’ve ever wanted to do and this is the only club I’ve ever wanted to join. Thank you for accepting me.”
Other actors nominated this year for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series were Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Mark Ruffalo for Task and Rufus Sewell for The Diplomat.

At last year’s ceremony, the E.R. alum won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and, as an executive producer, took home Outstanding Drama Series.
During his acceptance speech last year, Wyle described his win as “a dream,” and thanked healthcare professionals. “To anybody who is going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job. This is for you,” he said.

The Pitt also broke the record for most Emmy nominations a show has received in a season, earning 25 nods. Speaking to Deadline in July, Wyle said, “This just feels very much like a gift that keeps on giving. I feel very humbled by this and validated many times over.”
“Today, I feel extremely gratified that the nominations were spread so far and wide across our casting,” Wyle continued. “It really feels like it’s a testament to the collective achievement and contribution that everybody makes.”

Fellow The Pitt stars who received Emmy nods this year included Katherine LaNasa, who plays charge nurse Dana Evans, Sepideh Moafi, who plays Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, and Patrick Ball, who plays Dr. Frank Langdon, among others.
During the Creative Arts Emmys held on Sept. 5 and 6, The Pitt won Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Ernest Harden Jr., who plays Louie Cloverfield, won the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
The Pitt returns to HBO Max for season 3 in January 2027. The 78th Emmy Awards airs on Monday, Sept. 14, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
