Olympian Kaillie Humphries Cries as She Gives Her Medal to Trump

Humphries gifted Trump an Order of Ikkos medal for "standing up to keep biological women in women's sports to keep the field of play safe and allow for fair competition"

  • Kaillie Humphries presented President Donald Trump with her Order of Ikkos medal for his “support” of women’s sports and IVF access
  • Trump signed executive orders in 2025 to protect IVF access and restrict transgender women from competing in women’s sports
  • The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee banned transgender women from competition in line with Trump’s executive orders

President Donald Trump was presented her Order of Ikkos by an emotional Kaillie Humphries on Thursday.

The Order of Ikkos is a medal presented by a Team USA medal-winning athlete to an individual who has been instrumental in their success.

Humphries, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Canada who won two bronze medals for the U.S. in bobsledding at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, was recognized by the president during a White House Women’s History Month event on Thursday, March 12.

After she began to tear up over her 2.5-year journey to motherhood through IVF, Humphries opened up about how that impacted her career.

Referring to herself as a "legal immigrant," she then explained how "every Olympic medalist in the United States gets an Order of Ikkos that they get to hand to somebody in honor and recognition of somebody who's made a meaningful contribution to their journey to the podium, because Olympic medals are never achieved alone."

After the attendees clapped, Trump tapped Humphries on the shoulder and told the crowd, "I knew I liked her."

Humphries said she was presenting the medal to Trump to "recognize the support and the impact you've had on women's sports throughout the Olympic movement —specifically standing up to keep biological women in women's sports to keep the field of play safe and allow for fair competition."

"Furthermore, because your policies are creating greater access to IVF, so families like mine can continue to grow as I look to become and expand my family again," she continued.

"I believe this actually makes you the first president in history to ever be awarded an Order of Ikkos as well," said Humphries.

Trump signed an executive order in February 2025 directing, "policy recommendations to protect IVF access and aggressively reduce out-of-pocket and health plan costs for such treatments. That same month, he also signed Executive Order 14201.

Known as the "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports" order, it aims to restrict transgender women from competing on women's sports teams, based on the "male" and "female" definitions of Executive Order 14168.

In July 2025, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee banned transgender women from competition in accordance with Executive Order 14201.

While the "Athlete Safety Policy, does not mention the word "transgender," it states that the organization is "committed to protecting opportunities for athletes participating in sport."
