Paradise starring Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson premiered on Hulu in January 2025. It was billed as a political mystery but viewers quickly learned that that was only the surface of the shocking show.

The eight-episode series was revealed to be a post-apocalyptic drama following a society of survivors living in an underground bunker after the world is thrown into global chaos.

The buzzy series debuted in January 2025, and it was renewed for a second season the following month.

"The first episode [of the series] seemed like it was a political thriller, and then, the end of the first episode turned what the show was on its head," creator and showunner Dan Fogelman told Entertainment Weekly in March 2025. "The second season is going to turn what you thought the first season was —and what Paradise and the bunker was — a little bit on its head."

When does Paradise season 2 premiere?

Paradise season 2 premieres on Feb. 23.

In a March 2025 EW interview, Fogelman teased that he thought of the "coming season as the middle episode in our trilogy. So it's The Empire Strikes Back."

The upcoming episodes will show life above ground, with Brown's character, Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, leaving the bunker to search for his wife Teri Rogers-Collins, played by Enuka Okuma.

"There will be an exploration of the world outside of the bunker and what’s transpired over the past three years, so you’ll get a chance to see some things up close and personal," Brown told Deadline in April 2025. "It’s not the same. We were able to plan, with infrastructure and money. They were not, so you’ll see the difference between those two things."

How many episodes are in Paradise season 2?

There will be eight episodes in Paradise season 2, the same number as season 1.

Fogelman said there is a three-season plan for the series, featuring a story "coming that’s bigger than what people think it is right now, and it’s going to span a couple of genres."

"The second season is going to do the same thing to the first season. It expands upon itself," the showrunner told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2025.

He continued, "We have a plan and, hopefully, by the end of all three seasons, people will feel like they’ve been served a complete meal and that it’s all one piece, even though they went through a lot of different journeys to get to the end."
