RAYE is explaining what is taking her so long.
The 28-year-old British singer dropped a major bomb while performing on the Today show’s Citi Summer Concert Series on Thursday, Aug. 20.
After confirming that she plans to name her third studio album, And Then She Fell in Love, Raye shared that she has no intention of recording the album until its title is true.
“I’m on strike, basically. I’m on strike from making an album until I fall in love basically,” the “Where Is My Husband!” singer shared on the 3rd Hour of Today. “Because, do you know what it is? I’ve written so many songs. Picture this: I’ve been a songwriter for a really long time and your perspective… my perspective has largely just been, ‘This didn’t work out or this sucks or I’m alone. My ex that time, or my ex that time.’ So I’m just very bored of that perspective.”

Co-host Craig Melvin clarified, “Wait, you’re not gonna put out another album until you find Mr. Right?”
Raye was quick to confirm, saying, “Absolutely. I’m hard-set. It could be 10 years, guys.”
Weatherman Al Roker noted that it could be less time, and Raye replied, “That’s the optimist’s perspective. I’m gonna hold that.”
No matter what, Raye is looking forward to approaching her craft with a new outlook.
“I’m just really excited to find another project, see what happens in life and just enjoy the twists and turns, do all that stuff,” she shared.
The Grammy-nominated singer released her second album, This Music May Contain Hope, back in March as the follow-up to her debut album, My 21st Century Blues.

RAYE initially explained her outlook on the third album in a TikTok live back in March saying, “I’m not gonna write a single song on that album, not one single song is getting written until I fall in love. Because it’s enough ‘I’m single, this guy done me wrong, this sucks about this and that’ songs. I’m tired of writing songs like that. The end. No. So my next album is gonna be called And Then She Fell in Love, and I will fall in love and I will write an album.”
RAYE did spark some romance rumors earlier this month when she was spotted with Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan at Six Flags in Los Angeles.
At the time, a source told PEOPLE that the pair are “just friends,” but added, “Things are new between them. RAYE tells friends that Michael is her type and that he is warm and kind.”
