- A recently renewed search for Malaysia Arlines Flight MH370 has “not yielded any findings that confirm the location of the aircraft wreckage,” according to government officials
- Sunday marked the 12th anniversary of the tragedy, which occurred on March 8, 2014
- The families of the victims vowed to “never give up” on the search for their missing loved ones
Authorities say a renewed search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 is coming up empty as families mark the 12th anniversary of the tragedy.
The Air Accident Investigation Bureau said in a statement that the search for the missing Boeing 777 has “not yielded any findings that confirm the location of the aircraft wreckage.”
The most recent search for MH370, which vanished with 239 people on board on March 8, 2014, was conducted from March 2025 through January 2026, according to a statement MH370 Families shared on Facebook.
The families of the victims vowed to “never give up” on the search for their missing loved ones, according to a separate statement from Voice370, an association representing the families of the MH370 victims.
“We will continue the search for MH370, and we will continue the fight for answers,” Voice370 said.
The “no find, no fee” search — meaning the Malaysian government would not have to pay for the search unless the aircraft is found — was conducted by Ocean Infinity, a Texas-based marine exploration company, according to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau.
The Ministry of Transport said Ocean Infinity has scoured an estimated 15,000 square kilometers of the southern Indian Ocean both during its planned search and before its current contract with the Malaysian government, according to Voice370.
“Although the contract runs until June 2026, it appears unlikely OI will be able to return to complete the remaining areas due to the approaching winter months and deteriorating sea conditions,” said Voice370.
However, the victims’ families have not given up hope, insisting that “any request by Ocean Infinity to extend the Search Contract should therefore be granted without hesitation.”
Should the current search remain unsuccessful, the families want the Malaysian government to consider extending similar no find-no fee opportunities “to other capable deep sea exploration companies under the same framework.”

It added, “Above all, we remember the 239 passengers and crew of MH370, whose absence continues to be felt every single day by the families and loved ones they left behind.”
