Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have a new family member!
The actress and model, 52, announced on Friday, July 31, that their family adopted a new dog, Charlie. The Place Beyond the Pines actress shared the news in an adorable Instagram post of Charlie alongside the family’s dog, Magic.
“Introducing Charlie, our newest member of our familia,” the caption read. “We’re in love ! Gracias to @californiadoodlerescues ♥️.”
Charlie was seemingly adopted from California Doodle Rescue, which responded to the news with an Instagram account commented. “Congratulations!!!! 🎊 they have the best parents in town!!!!” they wrote, with Mendes replying, “we love you guys ! ❤️❤️❤️.”
The introduction to Charlie included a video of Mendes in between Magic and Charlie as she petted both of their heads. One snap captured the actress playing with Charlie’s ears, and the final photo showed Charlie lying on the ground as Magic sniffed, while both were beside Mendes.

Mendes, who shares daughters Esmeralda Amada, 11, and Amada Lee, 10, with Gosling, often shares snaps of the family’s dogs.
More recently, the actress shared an Instagram post on July 17, giving a glimpse of an afternoon with Magic, a rescue dog who joined their family in 2024, as they enjoyed an inflatable pool together. “Trying to stay true to the 90’s summer I promised myself …♥️,” she captioned her post.
Weeks prior, she took a video of Magic relaxing, and called it one of her “happy places.” Just before that, she shared a video of the pup doing her own magic trick, and walked through Mendes’ legs.
“Magic walking through my dress just because she can,” her May 6 Instagram post read. “Thank God for dogs. The joy is endless ♥️. Thank God for dogs. The joy is endless ♥️.”

The family’s new addition comes days after Marvel announced on July 25 that Gosling was cast as Ghost Rider (a.k.a. Johnny Blaze) in the upcoming movie. The 45-year-old Oscar nominee was revealed as the next actor to play Ghost Rider, the superhero character previously portrayed onscreen by Nicolas Cage. Coincidentally, Mendes starred in the 2007 Ghost Rider film opposite Cage.
Mendes celebrated the news with a sweet message in an Instagram post on July 26. She posted a fan’s edit of Gosling from The Place Beyond the Pines — the 2012 movie where the two actors first met — that painted him as a perfect Marvel superhero.

The clip shows Gosling’s dramatic introduction in the film as motorcycle stuntman Luke Glanton. He readies himself for the short trek to a carnival tent with his motorcycle, dressing himself along the way, before he hops onto his bike and slides his helmet on.
In the caption, Mendes wrote, “Love, Roxy,” referencing the character she played in the 2007 Ghost Rider.
