A judge has recused herself from a lawsuit filed against Steven Tyler less than two weeks before the case is scheduled to go to trial.
During a Monday, Sept. 15, status conference in Los Angeles, Judge Patricia A. Young informed attorneys that she had determined she was disqualified from hearing the case, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The court notified the parties of the issue on Monday, Sept. 14, and gave attorneys 24 hours to decide whether they would agree to allow her to remain on the case. Not all parties and attorneys agreed, according to the filing.
“The Court hereby recuses itself on this case,” the document states.
The case will now be reassigned. Attorneys have been ordered to appear before Supervising Judge Lawrence Riff at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles on Friday, Sept. 18, for a status conference about the reassignment and whether the case is ready for trial, according to the court filing.
A jury trial is currently scheduled to begin Sept. 28 and is expected to last seven to 10 days, according to the document.

The lawsuit was filed in December 2022 by Julia Misley, who has accused Tyler of sexual assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress stemming from an alleged relationship with the rock musician when she was a teenager in the 1970s.
The majority of Misley’s claims were dismissed earlier this year. However, a Los Angeles judge ruled in April that one intentional infliction of emotional distress claim could proceed, according to court documents previously obtained by PEOPLE.
That remaining claim centers on an allegation that Misley and Tyler had sex in a hotel and a public hot tub when she was 16 in California in 1974, according to the earlier court filing.
Misley has also alleged that by June 1975, she and the Aerosmith singer were engaged to be married, expecting a child and living together in Massachusetts.
Tyler has denied Misley’s allegations. In court filings, he argued that she consented to their sexual relationship and that he was immune from the claims because he had served as her legal guardian.
Misley’s lawsuit initially did not identify Tyler by name, though her allegations corresponded with an account in Tyler’s 2011 memoir, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, about his relationship with a 16-year-old girl. Misley later identified Tyler in a statement.

In April, Tyler’s attorney, David Long-Daniels, described the dismissal of most of the claims as “a massive win for Steven Tyler.”
“Today, the Court has dismissed with prejudice 99.9% of the claims against Mr. Tyler in this case,” Long-Daniels told PEOPLE at the time. “The court has decided that only one night, fifty-plus years ago, out of a three year relationship is allowed to remain. We look forward to trying this case on Aug. 31.”
Tyler has faced another sexual assault lawsuit from a woman who alleged that he assaulted her twice in one day when she was a teenager in 1975.

That lawsuit, filed in November 2023, was dismissed in February after a New York judge ruled that the accuser had waited too long to bring the case, according to previous reporting.
