NEED TO KNOW
- Russell Wilson is transitioning to broadcasting
- After 14 seasons in the NFL, the quarterback has accepted an offer to become an analyst on CBS Sports
- Wilson won one Super Bowl title with the Seattle Seahawks during his NFL career
Russell Wilson is hanging up his cleats — for the time being.
Amid offseason buzz regarding his future in the NFL, the 37-year-old quarterback is finalizing a deal to join CBS Sports as an analyst, according to ESPN.
Questions about Wilson's future had been swirling in recent weeks after the 10-time Pro Bowler took a visit with the New York Jets on April 27 as the team sought to add to its quarterback room led by starter Geno Smith.
The one-time Super Bowl champion confirmed to the New York Post days later that the team was interested in signing him.
"It was great," Wilson said on May 6. "They offered me, and I'm trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I have an opportunity to do TV [analysis], so we'll see what happens."

Sources told The Athletic in late April that the former New York Giants signal-caller had “lengthy talks” with The NFL Today, the Sunday pregame show on CBS.
Wilson is expected to fill the role previously occupied by former NFL quarterback Matt Ryan, who left the show— which features James Brown and analysts Nate Burleson and Bill Cowher — to become president of football for the Atlanta Falcons, the team he once played for.

A third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Wilson spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks before being traded to the Denver Broncos in 2022.
Denver moved on from Wilson after the 2023 season and he started for the Pittsburgh Steelers the follow year. The Giants signed Wilson to a one-year deal in 2025.
Along the way, Wilson's family has made it all possible, he told PEOPLE last year.
Wilson and Ciara, his wife of nearly 10 years, have three kids together: daughter Sienna Princess, 9, son Win Harrison, 5, and daughter Amora Princess, 2. He and the singer also share son Future Zahir, 11, whom Ciara welcomed in her previous relationship with rapper Future.

"I think how my kids inspire me, it's just their passion and love every day,” Wilson told PEOPLE in September 2025. “I get to do what I love to do — that's play football and do my day job, and try to do it really, really well.”
Wilson appeared in 205 regular-season games, throwing for 46,966 yards, 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions. He also rushed for 31 scores on the ground.
