Teddi Mellencamp and Erika Jayne are sticking up for Denise Richards after Aaron Phypers’ shocking divorce filing.
In the Friday, July 11 episode of Mellencamp and Tamra Judge’s podcast Two Ts in a Pod, Jayne had strong words for Phypers after he filed for divorce from Richards on July 7. In documents obtained by PEOPLE, the date of separation is listed as July 4, with Phypers, 52, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
In the episode, Mellencamp referenced Richards’ feelings on divorce from a March episode of her former reality show, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things. “She said… that she would never believe in divorce. There’s no chance that divorce could ever happen. She’s no divorce, no divorce, never have one,” she said.
Mellencamp and Jayne, who previously had disagreements with Phypers during their shared run on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, agreed that he is not their “favorite person.”
PEOPLE has reached out to Phypers for comment.
“He’s asking her for spousal support,” noted Jayne, as Mellencamp claimed that he wants “a lot” of money from Richards, 54. “She’s a working mom,” Jayne said of the actress and model, who shares daughters Sami Sheen, 21, and Lola Sheen, 20, with ex Charlie Sheen, and adopted daughter Eloise Richards, 14.
“Come on, man. Don’t do this,” she said, directed at Phypers.
Mellencamp also criticized Phypers for not claiming Eloise in his divorce petition, after he allegedly previously expressed his intention to legally adopt her.
“I clocked that, too,” Jayne, 54, said. “I thought he had adopted Eloise.”
Mellencamp jumped in, “They told us he did.”
The pair further disapproved of Phypers for claiming that he and Denise “have no children together,” even though Eloise has lived with them since they tied the knot in September 2018.
“What a d––wad,” Mellencamp exclaimed, theorizing, “It’s because he doesn’t ever wanna have to pay [Denise] anything.”

Both Jayne and Mellencamp want Phypers, who admitted in his filing that he has “not made income since” shutting down his wellness business in 2024, to “leave [Denise] the f— alone.”
Mellencamp added, “And you’re gross, douchelord. Sorry. Very few men do I despise as much as that guy. He’s easy to despise.”
