The Bear paid tribute to its late guest star, Rob Reiner, in its series finale.
Near the Emmy-winning series' conclusion on Thursday, June 25, audiences caught a line dedicated to the late director. Rob and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood, Calif., home in December 2025. Their younger son Nick was arrested and later charged with first-degree murder.
Before Rob's death, he appeared in three episodes in season 4 of the hit series as restaurant consultant Albert Schnurr, who worked with line cook Ebra (Edwin Lee Gibson). During the series finale, "The Original Beef of Chicagoland," Ebra calls Albert for assistance about expanding the restaurant into a franchise.
Ebra chats with Albert on the phone, telling him, “Albert, we are in business."
“It's perfect. I will have all the documents, email it to you immediately," he said. "Anything else I can do?”
When Ebra replies to Albert, whose response is not heard, he says, "As you wish."
This is seemingly a reference to Rob's classic comedy The Princess Bride. In the 1987 flick, Westley (Cary Elwes) famously expressed his devotion to Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright) by telling her several times, "As you wish."

Elwes was among the actors who paid tribute to the late director and his wife at the 2026 Oscars, alongside Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Demi Moore, John Cusack, Jerry O'Connell, Wil Wheaton, Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Carol Kane, Kiefer Sutherland and many more.
Shortly before the recent tributes, their son Nick pleaded not guilty. The L.A. County district attorney is also pursuing a murder conviction with “special circumstances,” a designation that could make Nick eligible for the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
In early June, he filed a petition in a California court requesting money from a trust fund established in his name.

In addition to Nick, Rob and Michele also shared daughter Romy, 28, and son Jake, 35. Rob shared daughter Tracey, 61, with his first wife, the late Penny Marshall.
Jake made his first public appearance since the death of his parents on Tuesday, June 23. He appeared on the red carpet premiere of HBO's Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, created by a close friend of his late parents, Larry David.
