The Black Crowes aren't afraid of a little backlash.
During their Tampa, Fla. show on Sunday, May 31, the rock band drew patriotic "U.S.A." chants from the crowd after displaying their crow mascot on a big screen dressed as Uncle Sam.
"Thanks for the geography lesson," frontman Chris Robinson said to the crowd, according to a Facebook post by a fan at the show. "I don't know what you have to be so proud of right now."
In a clip from the concert shared on TikTok, the crowd booed and Robinson, 59, responded by saying the band wasn't "afraid."
"For those of you f—ing booing us, some of us are not afraid," he said, drawing a few cheers from the audience. "And we most assuredly are not f—ing ignorant."
As some concertgoers walked out, the band continued the set and played their hit "She Talks to Angels," according to TMZ.
A rep for the band did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
In the past, the performers have remained low-key on their political stance. In an interview with Mojo magazine earlier this year, Robinson said he wasn't "interested in politics."
"I'm more interested in poetry and art and people and experience," he said. "But a song doesn't have to be like an overt political statement. I know what's right and wrong — and this s— going on right now is wrong. Look man, I'm almost 60, alright. I don't tell anyone what to do, because I don't like to be told what to do."
He continued, "But I know right and wrong. The world's teetering on the edge with all this bulls—… These kids don't seem to give a f—. I get it, I guess their phone is their interest. I don't know, though, I still go to bookstores and read books and all the lyrics on this album were written in pen. I'm a mid-20th century product."

The Black Crowes are currently on the road for their Southern Hospitality tour with Whiskey Myers. They released their tenth studio album, A Pound of Feathers, in March.
Speaking with Mojo, Robinson was asked about making the record in 10 days.
"You see the way so many older rock bands work, and I think, 'Why would you want to spend months in a studio?' Rich [Robinson] and I talked, and I said, 'I don't want things too complicated. Let's keep it funky and loose.' I wanted this album to show you how it feels to be in a rock 'n roll band," he said.
"Sometimes it's beautiful, sometimes it's ugly, sometimes it's depraved, sometimes it's holy," he continued. "But all those things have to kind of coagulate while the blood's still on the studio floor. You can't be sucking the life out of it by being in the studio for months."
