The Traitors: New Blood is taking over Thursday nights.
Premiering on Thursday, Sept. 17, the NBC and Peacock spinoff of the celebrity-packed reality competition series will pit 22 civilians against each other in a strategic game of social deduction for a chance to win up to $250,000. Like the original Traitors, the show is “set at a castle deep in the Scottish Highlands” where “hidden among the Faithful are the Traitors, who murder the Faithful one-by-one under the cover of darkness as the Faithful race to uncover them,” per the official synopsis.
If the Faithful succeed in banishing every Traitor, they’ll split the prize. But if even one Traitor makes it to the end, the Traitor takes it all.
“There’s a lot of screaming,” Emmy-winning host Alan Cumming told TV Insider in September 2026. “They’re completely immersed in that world because they don’t have the experience of being on a set. They take it more seriously. For real people, it’s a huge amount of money [that] changes lives. So, in the missions, they are fighting much more for the pot.”

The Traitors: New Blood premieres on Thursday, Sept. 17, with not one but two episodes. And although the cast of “ordinary Americans” is already a major deviation from the game, Cumming teased to TV Insider that there was “a big twist” in the special two-hour premiere.
Though he hasn’t revealed any telling details about what that twist could be, the host did allude to how the contestants’ anonymity could influence the show. “We won’t go in with preconceptions of the cast because we don’t know them, and I think that will be fascinating,” Cumming explained to PEOPLE in August 2025. “There will be more of a slow burn getting to know people.”
How many episodes are in The Traitors: New Blood?
NBC and Peacock haven’t confirmed how many episodes are in The Traitors: New Blood. Cumming did, however, reveal that because the series is airing on the network, they did have to change the runtime.
“The episodes have to be 42 minutes,” the host told Entertainment Weekly in August 2026. “It means the episodes are structured kind of differently. Not every episode has a full day, things like that.”
Recent seasons of The Traitors featured 12 episodes, including the reunion.
