Forget about turning chairs — Adam Levine is about to turn heads with his new hairstyle.
As season 27 of The Voice kicked off its playoff rounds on Monday, April 28, some viewers did a double take when they saw Levine, 46, switch up his hair color for the show.
“When we showed up today, Adam’s new hairdo [was] the talk of the town,” fellow coach Michael Bublé shared in a confessional interview. “Listen, I don’t want to talk out of school but there’s a debate backstage of what color that is.”
Kelsea Ballerini kept an open mind about the new cut as she tried to figure out the best way to describe the color.
“You could call it blonde. You could call it silver,” she shared. “I feel like gray is not an appropriate term to put in that collection.”
John Legend, however, didn’t hesitate to share his hair color assessment for Levine.
“He took this OG thing very seriously,” the “All of Me” singer joked about his costar. “He was like, ‘Maybe I should come back with actual gray hair to denote my OG status.’”
Ultimately, Levine — whose team includes hairstylist Shaul Arbiv and groomer Darcy Gilmore — had the final say on what he thought his hair transformation looked like.
As he explained, “It’s more of a platinum ice kind of white color.”
Debates aside, Levine’s fellow coaches totally approved of the hair change as the finals get closer and closer. (Live shows for season 27’s final eight contestants are expected to kick off in May.)
“Listen, it’s Adam Levine, he can do whatever he wants,” Ballerini, 31, shared. “It’s Adam Levine. He’s a rockstar.”
Bublé, 49, added, “He looks great. He’s sexy. It’s like Dick Van Dyke and David Beckham had a baby.”
In 2011, Levine helped launch The Voice with fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. The Maroon 5 frontman took a break from the show after 16 seasons but returned for season 27.
Throughout his journey on NBC’s singing competition show, Levine has switched up his hair several times, including a bleach blonde look and a shaved look.

After one change, Levine seemingly responded to the passionate responses from viewers online.
“I hope people understand that when they say my hair looks creepy, I take that as the highest compliment,” he wrote via X in May 2014.
