Bye, bye red patches
Growing up with eczema-prone skin, I was taught to stay away from any scented body lotion or else risk itchiness, redness, and irritation. My friends, family, and social media kept hyping up Sol de Janeiro though — including my 16-year-old sister, who has the same skin type and is a proud owner of all the body and hair mist scents.
I wearily listened to the endorsements and decided to test out the brand’s new body lotion for myself — and from the first use, it calmed my eczema patches overnight. Bonus: It's on sale right now in Amazon's beauty department.

I can’t resist a hot shower before bed, but it always results in dry, itchy, and red skin afterwards. Sol de Janeiro’s body lotion comes with a convenient pump that quickly dispenses the lotion so my skin can reap the benefits of the formula. It has a lightweight feel that’s slightly thicker than water and spreads easily, covering a good amount of surface area (one pump can cover my entire arm). The lotion also has a cooling effect that calms inflammation. TL;DR, my skin drinks this formula up.
What surprised me the most is how the fragrance doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s the same scent as Sol de Janeiro’s best-selling Cheirosa 62, which has notes of pistachio, vanilla, almond, and sandalwood. The smell isn’t overpowering, and it lasts all day (I put some on last night, and as I type this up, my skin still has traces of the scent).
It’s made with nourishing and hydrating ingredients including a seven-hyaluronic-acid blend to really moisturize skin, Brazilian nut oil with nourishing vitamin E components, and Brazilian sugarcane to boost hydration on the skin’s surface. I prefer to apply it before bed — then it works its magic overnight, and I wake up with smooth, eczema-free skin. Plus, my skin stays moisturized and clear all day long — no reapplication needed.
The only annoying thing I’ve run into is that once you get to the bottom of the bottle (for me, it’s after four months of use), it’s hard to get it up the pump. But, one quick fix is unscrewing it and tapping the lotion into your hand.

I’m not the only fan either: Reviewers love the “silky feel” and how “soft, firm, and hydrated” it leaves skin. One shopper with extremely sensitive skin wrote that it “does not irritate it at all like some other lotions do.” Another person with autoimmune rheumatoid arthritis has found that it’s the “first lotion (there have been many tried) that [they] actually see and can feel a difference.”
It also has anti-aging properties, according to another reviewer who started using it on their neck and chest and discovered their “wrinkles and lines [were] gone.”
