- The pair were married for 14 years and share two children, son Cree and daughter Cairo
- Mowry has since moved on with a new mystery man
Tia Mowry is sharing an important lesson she has learned that helps her maintain "peace of mind."
While stepping out at the 2026 Essence Black Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles on March 12, the Family Reunion star told PEOPLE she's become more intentional about defining boundaries in the three years since finalizing her divorce with ex-husband Cory Hardrict.
Mowry, 47, explained that it comes down to her confidence level.
"If I am feeling secure about something, then I'm okay sharing, because everybody wants to say what they want to say. When you are secure with yourself, then you're like, 'This is just noise,' " the actress said.
"If you're not secure about something and you're still working through something, then I will be apprehensive about sharing that and I'll create a boundary until I'm ready to," she continued. "So yeah, it's all about what I feel secure about, and also just [what I'm] passionate about, that I'm open to talk about."

Mowry said that since closing the chapter on her 14-year marriage with Hardrict — with whom she shares two kids, son Cree, 14, and daughter Cairo, 7 — she has learned "more about boundaries" and is "definitely" setting them to give herself "peace."
"So, if staying away from this, talking about this gives me just peace of mind, then I'm going to create a boundary, you know what I mean?" she explained.

A year after announcing her split from Hardrict, 46, the Sister, Sister alum shared a candid Instagram post about the healing power of spending time alone and how she had learned to embrace solitude as "an opportunity to recharge."
"I have a confession to make: I’ve never been alone. Until now," she began the October 2023 post. "For the longest time, I’ve found myself in the company of others, as my work and family commitments kept me constantly surrounded by people, and not to mention, I have a twin. Alone time was a rare occurrence growing up."
Mowry went on to explain that when she leaned into solitude, she discovered something surprising.

"I realized that being alone wasn’t a punishment but rather an opportunity to recharge. Through conscious effort, I transformed these moments into a crucial aspect of maintaining my well-being," she wrote.
Added Mowry, "This shift allowed me to recognize the value of solitude in refreshing my mind and spirit."
She later documented some of her post-divorce journey in the We TV reality series Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which aired from October 2024 to November 2024.
The show gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how her life had shifted since she and Hardrict split, and how she was navigating motherhood and co-parenting while also focusing on her career and rediscovering her sense of self.
She told PEOPLE in February 2025 that she was open to being vulnerable and sharing some of life's lower moments on the show to inspire and empower others.
“Everything that I do, I'm intentional when it comes to my why, so I'm all about empowerment, all about inspiring, all about just helping, educating in any way that I can,” she said at the time.
Recently, Mowry has shared social media posts that have fans thinking she could be in a new relationship.
Catching up with PEOPLE at the Jhpiego Laughter Is The Best Medicine Gala in Los Angeles on March 18, the former Disney star played coy about the mystery man in her photos, stating, "I am very happy."
"I've been in a place of solitude for a very long time, and there, I was really able to learn who I am, what it was that I wanted, and what it was that I needed," she continued. "And I manifested this. I really did."
