Fey and Richmond got together long before she found fame, meeting in the mid-'90s when they were both working at improv theater Second City in Chicago. In 2003, Richmond told The New Yorker that when he first saw Fey, he saw her potential right away.
"I don't want to say she was funny 'for a woman,' but there were so many talented men there at the time, and then suddenly there was Tina, who was so funny — and she was at home with all those boys on the stage," he said.
The pair tied the knot in a Greek Orthodox ceremony in 2001, seven years after they began dating. They then moved to New York City to pursue their careers in the entertainment industry.
