"They were able to get reactivity back. She is now responding to some pain stimulus, which is exactly what they want to do. All of the numbers they’ve told her that she needed to reach, she has,” Heather added.

Sena Spencer, a friend of the Plumb family, has set up a GoFundMe page to cover Erin's hospital bills amid her recovery.

In an update on Wednesday, April 8, Spencer told supporters of the fundraiser that Erin's "swelling is down noticeably" and that doctors "hooked up her feeding tube and she is currently eating."

"She keeps exceeding our expectations. She is fighting so hard, so we will, too. She will remain in the coma until some point next week! Prayers are working, please keep sending them☺️☺️," Spencer added.

Despite the relatively positive update on Erin's condition, Spencer emphasized that she has an "incredibly difficult road ahead" and that her parents are "hoping for miracles and holding onto faith that Erin will recover and be able to come home."

"The days since the accident have been filled with uncertainty, worry, and countless prayers," Spencer wrote in the fundraiser's description.
