Valerie Bertinelli Jokes About Flexibility and Aging, Says It’s ‘Time to Hit the Gym’

  • Valerie Bertinelli jokes about her flexibility and aging in an Instagram post
  • A fan requested that she get back into acting, which she confirmed she’s currently working on a Lifetime movie
  • In her Instagram Story, she highlighted the emotional aspects of the film and that he’s similar to her real life, making her cry for nearly 10 minutes

Valerie Bertinelli opened up about aging and striving towards a fitness goal.

In a Friday, Aug. 22, post shared on Instagram, the Food Network star shared a photo from 2007 in which she’s standing crouched in heels. In the caption, she jokes about how much more flexible she was at that time.

“Just looking at this photo hurts my knees,” she wrote. “My goal is to be able to crouch down comfortably again just like this.”

The caption continued, “ I think I’ve done enough squats in my lifetime that I should be able to work myself back to this (without actually holding onto something to help me down and back up 😂).” She then added that it’s “time to hit the gym” to conclude the caption.

Fans of the famed chef applauded her honesty and vulnerability, and even sympathized with the aging sentiments. “Yes! I think we all want to work on improving that! Very inspiring post. Plus girl! That outfit on you is fire!” wrote one commenter. Another shared, “Down = easy! It’s getting back up that I find impossible!”

Another fan requested, “I’d love to see you in a Lifetime or Hallmark movie. You still have so much to offer as an actress!” To which Bertinelli responded, “Coming in the spring!”

Ironically, the celebrity chef shared a few behind-the-scenes clips of her working on the new project in her Instagram story. In a couple of the videos posted, she filmed herself recording ADR, which she explained in the on-screen caption of the video.

“ADR stands for automated dialogue replacement or additional dialogue recording,” she wrote. “Say there was too much noise or dialogue couldn’t be heard or needed fixing this is when we do it. We watch clips of the film and try to match our original dialogue. It’s a bit like lip syncing.”

She goes on to write that it’s “super fun during highly emotional scenes.” After recording, Bertinelli shared her thoughts on the film, and was actually surprised by how emotional it made her.

“I haven’t seen the movie, and when you do ADR you see little bits and pieces of it and you try to match your dialogue for when there’s sound or whatever. And I just spent the last five, 10 minutes crying. That’s how much the movie moved me.”

She then took a deep breath and exhaled before adding, “You guys, it’s good. And I swore I wasn’t going to watch it because I thought, ‘I lived it, I don’t know if I can — I’m going to watch it.”

The One Day At a Time alum first teased the movie back in June on Instagram, calling it “an amazing script.”

“It’s an amazing script written by an amazing writer and the cast is beyond my wildest dreams,” she wrote at the time. “It’s a beautiful role where I must break down all my barriers, shut out the outside noise and be openly vulnerable. It’s the only way to let the real, authentic emotions flow.”
