An American actress has sued Aer Lingus after the airline allegedly damaged her motorized wheelchair following her flight from Los Angeles to Dublin.

According to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, Precious Holloway, an L.A.-based “voice-over artist,” was traveling from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Dublin Airport (DUB) in September 2025 when the incident occurred.

The complaint, originally filed in March 2026, states that Holloway is a person with disabilities, including “lupus, asthma, and a seizure disorder” that requires her to use a motorized power wheelchair to get around.

Before her flight in September, Holloway allegedly requested disability assistance ahead of Aer Lingus Flight EI0068's departure, specifically noting that she would be traveling with her own Vision Sport wheelchair. According to the complaint, her request was confirmed and her mobility device was added to her booking.

The filing also claims that Aer Lingus' ground staff at LAX signed and completed the airline's “Battery Powered Mobility Aid” checklist for Holloway's wheelchair prior to departure, which certified that it was “cleared and properly prepared for carriage.”

After a ten-hour flight, Holloway and the companion she was traveling with arrived in Dublin, but her wheelchair was not waiting for her at the jet bridge once she deplaned, according to the complaint.

The airline's airport assistance personnel then provided Holloway with an “airport transfer chair that was medically inadequate and did not allow independent mobility,” the filing claims. They allegedly told her that her wheelchair would arrive at the oversized luggage carousel instead and brought her there to wait for it.

Holloway claims she waited 45 minutes for her wheelchair but it did not arrive, and airport personnel allegedly then told her the wheelchair couldn't be located. According to the filing, she was left “without independent mobility for approximately 2.5 hours at Dublin Airport” before her wheelchair was finally found and returned to her.

However, when she attempted to operate the wheelchair, she alleges it wouldn't move. She then claims she spent 20 minutes troubleshooting the device and staff helped reposition the manual release levers.

Holloway says she was eventually able to get the chair to start moving forward, however it allegedly began “emitting abnormal whirring and clanking noises not present before the flight,” the filing states.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE, Holloway notes of the incident: “Disabled travelers experience this so much, and it's a fight just to be heard by the company themselves. So many equate [wheelchairs] to just ‘luggage' when it's our livelihood and autonomy. I should be able to travel without fear of losing my independence at the same time.”

Once she returned home, per the complaint, she had a technician inspect her wheelchair and they allegedly gave a repair quote of $1,146.86 as a result of damage done to the motors and casters. She submitted this estimate, along with the cost of “rentals, transportation, and incidentals,” to Aer Lingus in a second case.

According to the documents, Aer Lingus allegedly denied liability and did not offer any compensation the first time Holloway tried to open a formal case.

Holloway alleges the incident continues to impact her, as the “loss of safe mobility” has been preventing her from working and attending medical appointments.

She alleges she's experienced a loss of income amounting to $10,201.54. Additionally, the filing claims her missed medical appointments triggered her underlying conditions, leading her to experience “depression, two seizure-like episodes requiring emergency room treatment, persistent pain, fatigue, and neurological flares."

The filing states that Aer Lingus offered a partial settlement of $2,046.31 to cover the wheelchair's repair and transportation costs, however the offer allegedly “excluded statutory damages, loss-of-use damages, emotional distress, lost wages, and any acknowledgment of discriminatory conduct.”

Holloway claims her quality of life continues to be diminished as a result of the incident, and she now also experiences anxiety related to air travel.

Aer Lingus tells PEOPLE in a statement that “mobility assistance was provided via airport services while the customer's own equipment was located and returned. Aer Lingus agreed to reimburse reasonable, evidenced costs and expenses, in line with applicable regulations and our policies.”

The airline added, “While we always aim to resolve issues directly with our customers, this matter is now the subject of legal proceedings and it would not be appropriate to comment further.”

According to the documents obtained by PEOPLE, the case will be heading to court on June 12, 2026. PEOPLE has also reached out to Dublin Airport for comment.
