After someone compared her tummy tuck scarring to a fictional monster, Natalia Aranda got candid about her experience with the procedure.
In a recent video, the fitness influencer — who shares videos about her fitness journey and abdominoplasty on Instagram account @loseitwithnat — directly responded to a comment calling her stomach scarring “Frankenstein scars.”
The commenter also questioned why she got the operation, a “procedure to remove excess skin and fat from your abdomen,” which “smooths and flattens your stomach,” per Cleveland Clinic.
Word for word, the comment read: “Why tho going to the gym or simple work out is way less pain and definitely no Frankenstein scars,” per a screenshot Aranda included in the July 14 video.
“So I have this big scar right here after my tummy tuck,” the influencer began, gesturing to a long, vertical scar down the center of her stomach. “At my heaviest, I carried a lot of my weight right here, even when I was pregnant, my pregnant belly was super high, so when I lost all of the weight, I had two pockets of loose skin right here.”

If, following her 140-lb. weight loss over the past two years, she had gotten a “regular tummy tuck,” Aranda went on to explain, “there was a big chance that I was still going to have that hanging skin.”
“I did not want that,” she said.
After doing research — with specific attention to people with a “similar body type” to her own prior to the operation — the influencer said she realized that she wanted to get the tummy tuck that leaves the “vertical scar” she now has.
“No tea no shade,” she continued, “but I feel like the people who went with the vertical scar, they have curves [and] they look more snatched.”
Aranda also shared the “reason why” she has been sharing her weight loss and tummy tuck journey, despite knowing that there would be “backlash” like the Frankenstein comment. She opened up online, she said, “To not seek approval from others,” and “to share my story.”
“People have been saying that my scars are ugly, that I look like Frankenstein, saying all this crazy stuff to me — but I don’t care,” she said. “We all have flaws. We’re not all going to look like the picture-perfect magazine model body. We’re realistic over here, and we have real bodies.”
“And we love on our bodies regardless, and my man gonna love on my body regardless, best believe that,” Aranda said, before concluding the video with a message directly to viewers: “Remember, your body was not made to be accepted by society. Your body was made to take care of you. It is your forever home. So take care of it, and love on it. Love y’all.”
In the caption, Aranda also added another tidbit about how following a tummy tuck or similar procedure, everybody’s body “will look different.”
“Hi my loves 🩷🙌🏻 always remember we are all different and when it comes to removing loose skin after massive weight loss that will look different for all of us,” the influencer wrote. “Scars are not ugly. We should not shame people for making the best decisions for themselves.”
“Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for wanting to be comfortable in your own body,” she added.
