A woman who takes day trips to Disney World from New York City every month is sharing her thoughts on why the short getaways are worth it to her.

Sydney, who goes by @syd_sends_you on TikTok, tells PEOPLE she's jetted off to the Florida theme park on monthly solo day trips since the beginning of 2026, and she's been documenting all her getaways on social media.

After taking the leap and going on her first solo day trip last year, Sydney says she absolutely “loved it” and quickly realized how “easy” it was to hop on a nearly two-hour flight from her home base in N.Y.C. and have a full day at the parks before returning home.

Explaining why she set a goal to continue the tradition every month this year, the content creator tells PEOPLE: “The reason why I like doing it, and why I've done it so often now, is working and living in New York, everything can be fast-paced and stressful. I think it's really important to do things that make me really happy.”

She adds that the amount of joy she gets from just one day at Disney World is worth the day of travel, and it fits nicely into her busy schedule.

“Disney's always kind of been my happy place,” says Sydney, who is originally from Pennsylvania and currently works in tech. “So when life is hard and there's a lot going on, it's nice to know that once a month, I'm going to have that little time for me to make me really happy.”

Sydney admits that while she finds the process of flying to Disney and back to be fairly easy, it can certainly be “exhausting.”

In order for her to get to the park by 9 a.m. so she can enjoy a full day there, she usually has to wake up around 3 or 4 a.m. and catch the earliest flight of the day. Coming back, she tries to get the last flight out of Orlando, between 7:30 and 8 p.m., which usually gets her home close to midnight, she says.

“When I come home, I just feel like I'm the happiest version of myself after,” she adds. “So that's the real big reason why I continue doing it. It just makes me so happy.”

She also notes that to make her trips work, she usually gets to the airport “at the time boarding starts.” Having TSA PreCheck has come in handy multiple times, she says, and she's — “knock on wood” — never missed a flight so far.

“I do cut [my flights] really close because, again, I'm only there for a day. I want to spend every minute I can in the parks versus sitting around the airport waiting,” she adds.

While her travels have been mostly smooth this year, she did experience one mishap in January when N.Y.C. was hit with a big snowstorm. At the time, she saw snow in the forecast for Sunday afternoon, which was perfect since she was only going for the day on Saturday, she says.

“I get down there on Saturday and I've been there for an hour. It's 11 a.m. at this point, and I get a text that my flight home was canceled,” Sydney recalls.

When she discovered that every flight out after 4 p.m. had also been canceled, she quickly scrambled to book the next possible flight she could take home.

“I had to book a last minute new flight leaving at 3 p.m. So I literally flew down, spent two hours in Disney and had to fly home,” she says with a laugh, noting that she only had time to go on one ride and have lunch that trip.

That one snafu did not deter her, however, as she already has her May daytrip coming up soon.

She says the more short trips she goes on, the more she learns how much she's able to fit in one day. She's also learned how to “make it worth your money” by saving with an annual pass and finding cheap round-trip flights from N.Y.C.

Since going every month, Sydney says she's discovered a whole community of travelers on social media who make similar day trips to Disney World and love it just as much as she does.

“I just want to emphasize how easy it really is, and worthwhile, to go for a day,” she says.
