Woman’s Left Arm Was Nearly ‘Completely Amputated’ and Teeth Marks Were Found on Her Bones Following Deadly Alligator Attack

An autopsy report sheds light on the gruesome injuries a 31-year-old woman sustained during an alligator attack in Florida last month, which she did not survive.

Brittany Clark was swimming with friends and her boyfriend in the Econlockhatchee River near the Barr Street Trailhead in the Little Big Econ State Forest when the gator attacked her on June 28.

Chad Weber of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation said during a press conference the couple did not appear to be doing anything “malicious” to provoke the alligator and had been swimming in “about three feet of water.”

During the attack, her boyfriend called 911 while attempting to save her, but she later died while on the way to a nearby hospital.

In a newly-released autopsy report, which was obtained by PEOPLE, the Office of the Medical Examiner in Orange County listed her cause of death as “multiple blunt force injuries of the upper extremities.”

Clark experienced “near complete amputation of her left arm at the shoulder” as well as “near complete amputation of the right distal forearm.”

Additionally teeth marks were found on her left clavicle, left scapula and ventral left arm, while several fractures, abrasions, contusions and lacerations were also discovered on other parts of her body.

The medical examiner said the findings were all consistent with an alligator attack.

At a press conference after her death, police said that two alligators found near the scene of the attack were captured and killed.

Shortly after her death, Clark’s boyfriend, identified in media reports as Chance Allison, penned an emotional Facebook post, saying he was “still in disbelief of what took place.” 

“We had so many things planned out and memories to be made,” Allison stated. “You were such a special person and did not deserve to go out in such a way.”

In an interview earlier this month with Fox affiliate WOFL, Brittany’s father, Robert Clark, remembered his daughter as someone who loved people and nature. He also expressed his thanks to Brittany’s loved ones who stayed with her during the ordeal.

“I just want them to know they are so loved,” Robert told the outlet. “They did everything they could do to make it better for her before she ultimately passed.”
