Death of the Pastor’s Wife brought the case of Mica Miller’s death to the mainstream.

The Netflix docuseries — which was released on Aug. 26 and includes three episodes — features interviews with Mica’s family and members of her husband John-Paul Miller’s Solid Rock Church, among others, who share insight into Mica’s relationship with John-Paul before and after she accused him of abuse. Mica subsequently died by suicide in April 2024.

These accounts reveal new information about how John-Paul allegedly treated Mica and her loved ones, as well as his church’s response to his alleged affairs. John-Paul refused to comment to producers of the docuseries, and his attorney, Nathan S. Williams, declined to comment to PEOPLE several times.

In December 2025, John-Paul was indicted by prosecutors on charges of cyberstalking and lying to federal investigators, per the U.S. Attorney’s Office. His trial is scheduled for October.

John-Paul allegedly used weapons to threaten Mica

Multiple people interviewed in Death of the Pastor’s Wife claimed that John-Paul had a history with weapons.

Mica’s sister, Sierra Francis, and her friend Charlotte Korn spoke about one instance that took place in November 2022. According to Sierra, Mica requested to visit her at her home that month. Mica then confided in Sierra that she felt uncomfortable because John-Paul kept asking her, “If you could kiss any girl, who would it be?”

She said Mica didn’t want to answer, but she chose Charlotte, who she thought would be the safest person to say. 

“It totally turned into a dark answer, or dark moment for him,” Charlotte said in the docuseries.

Sierra claimed John-Paul then accused Mica and Charlotte of having an affair. Subsequently, Mica left to Sierra’s house.

John-Paul then allegedly put Mica and Charlotte in a group text chat that night, they claimed, in which he demanded she come home. He then said he was going to drive to Sierra’s house and “raise hell.” 

Sierra then claimed John-Paul texted her to tell her he was on the way to her house, adding, “I’m armed. I’m ready.”

Sierra called the police, and she said they verified John-Paul was not waiting at the end of the road for Mica to get in the car as he told them he was.

Later on the docuseries, Mica’s biblical counselor Laura Hucks recalled an instance when John-Paul asked Mica to pick up her belongings from their home.

“When she picked up her box, in there was a gun and bullets,” Laura claimed. “And she was so uncomfortable that she called her brother, and [her brother] Nate came immediately to pick up the gun.”

John-Paul allegedly had Mica involuntarily hospitalized when they were separated

When Mica and John-Paul were separated, John-Paul had her involuntarily hospitalized, Mica’s siblings claimed in the docuseries. They claimed John-Paul called a mental hospital and told them Mica was trying to die by suicide.

They then alleged a member of Solid Rock Church offered to take Mica to the hospital to get a voluntary mental health evaluation. When she met up with this member, he wasn’t there; instead, police officers physically took her out of the car and to the hospital, according to her siblings.

Per their accounts in the docuseries, John-Paul took possession of Mica’s phone, laptop (which had nude photos of her on it) and car while she was in the hospital. According to prosecutors, John-Paul later allegedly posted a nude photograph of Mica online without her consent.

While Mica and John-Paul were engaged, Mica was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In the docuseries, Mica’s loved ones also alleged that John-Paul sometimes withheld her medication from her.

Mica’s friends said she took testosterone to keep up with John-Paul’s sex drive

Mica’s loved ones claimed that John-Paul didn’t let her sleep until they had sex four to five times per day. To keep up with John-Paul’s sex drive, she started taking testosterone, according to her friends Erica Rahr and Charlotte.

This caused Mica’s voice to change, which affected her singing ability. 

“Singing was such an important and big part of her life,” Charlotte said in the docuseries. “Her range totally changed, and they had to adjust all of the pitches when she was on stage.”

Rahr wanted to address this situation with John-Paul, but Mica didn’t want to do anything that would “turn people away from the church,” Rahr said in the docuseries.

Mica’s friends claimed John-Paul paid strangers to sexually assault Mica

Mica also confided in her friend Bruna Pabon about “the horror she had to live with,” Bruna said in the docuseries.

“Many times, they would leave dinner, and he would pull the truck [over] and just see a random homeless person and he’d pay him to do things — ‘I’ll give you $100 if you just let [him] grab her boob,’ ” Bruna claimed.

She continued, “Another time, he forced her to allow a man to finish on her. She said she couldn’t wash her skin with enough things to feel clean ever again.”

John-Paul allegedly had an affair with a woman who attended Solid Rock Church

John-Paul allegedly had an affair with Suzie Skinner, a member of Solid Rock Church, during his marriage with Mica, Charlotte alleged in the docuseries.

“[Mica] told me she had known for a while,” she said.

When John-Paul and Suzie met, she was married to Chris Skinner, who had been paralyzed in a car accident when he was 20, per WBTW.

Suzie and Chris attended the church together before Chris stopped going because he didn’t like John-Paul and thought he had a crush on Suzie, according to Chris’ sister Tamara McDermott.

In the docuseries, Tamara said Chris eventually confronted John-Paul about his concerns, but she didn’t share any more information as to how that interaction unfolded.

Chris died of asphyxiation due to drowning on Sept. 6, 2021, Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard told WPDE. His body was found in a community pool.

Tamara said in the docuseries that she believes Chris’ death was an “intentional” act he made after he “gained information that devastated him.”

John-Paul and Suzie are now married. They wed in June 2025, just over a year after Mica’s death. Suzie was not able to be reached for comment by PEOPLE.

The elders at Solid Rock Church didn’t replace John-Paul after learning of his alleged affairs

In the docuseries, Solid Rock Church pastor Pam Muise shared how she gained some insight into John-Paul’s alleged affairs during his marriage with Mica.

She explained she saw texts between John-Paul and his best friend Mark Kaufman in which John-Paul asked him to pick up a girl from the airport “who was supposedly coming in to see JP,” she claimed in the docuseries.

Pam told John-Paul he had 24 hours to confess this to the elders of the church or she was going to do so.

“Elders can ask for disciplinary action and get it,” she said.

Pam said John-Paul didn’t confess, so she then met with the elders, who were not willing to do anything about the alleged situation.

“It was in that process that I learned about the structure of Solid Rock Church,” she said. “They had no power over JP at all. In no church situation in my life have I ever seen that to be the case. I had to get out of there. It was time to go.”
