Jimmy Tatro is opening up about his upcoming wedding to Zoey Deutch.
Tatro, 34, touched on his engagement to fellow actor Deutch, 31, when he caught up with PEOPLE at the premiere of his new Netflix comedy series The Hawk in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 9.
“I don’t love the word fiancé, but it is a fun time period,” he says about the roughly one year that has passed since he and Deutch got engaged in the summer of 2025. Deutch, who stars in the recent Netflix release Voicemails for Isabelle, and Tatro revealed in an Instagram post they shared together on Sept. 28, 2025 that they were celebrating the third month of their engagement.
“I’m involved. I’d say I’m more involved than my friends seem to have been,” Tatro adds, when asked how hands-on he has been during wedding planning. Does he have a “deal-breaker” for something he needs at the wedding?
“It was mostly just like, I want that dance floor going as late as we can,” he says.

Deutch shared during a November 2025 appearance on The Tonight Show that she had a feeling Tatro was going to propose during a trip the couple planned to Corsica, an island off the southeast coast of France.
The couple both seem to dislike using the terms “fiancé” and “fiancée.” “Fiancé is such a weird word. It just sounds a little pretentious,” she told Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon at the time, joking, “It’s like, ‘my fiancé,’ so I just sort of say ‘my Beyoncé.’ “
Tatro and Deutch have been seen together at a number of recent movie premieres, since Deutch stars in this summer’s releases like Voicemails for Isabelle, the comedy Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass and Minions & Monsters this year. “I’m very romantic and my fiancé is very comedic. He makes me laugh the hardest of anyone,” she told PEOPLE at a June 16 premiere for Voicemails for Isabelle.
Tatro, too, has been busy during his engagement: this year, he has appeared in February’s Scream 7 and in March’s Hulu time travel comedy Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. Tatro costars with Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Chris Parnell, Luke Wilson and more in The Hawk, which sees Ferrell, 58, portray a professional golfer named Lonnie Hawkins, who is struggling with his career. Tatro plays Lonnie’s son Lance, an up-and-coming golfer on the PGA Tour who seems to threaten Lonnie’s status on the tour.

He even got a kick out of making Ferrell laugh during downtime on set. “There was a day, and it did work, and it was a great feeling,” Tatro says. “We were riffing on what wine we were going to order, and I said I wanted to get one from San Francisco. And he was like, ‘You mean Sonoma?’ And I was like, ‘No, the city.’ And then we just started kind of riffing on what wine from the city of San Francisco would taste like. And we were both laughing along, and I got him. I got him.”
The Hawk begins streaming on Netflix July 6.
