Betty Gilpin is taking home Emmys gold for her Widow’s Bay work.
The actress won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Other nominees included Jamie Lee Curtis for The Bear, as well as Leslie Bibb, Cherry Jones, Laurie Metcalf, Kaitlin Olson and Lauren Weedman for Hacks.
Gilpin, 40, guest-starred in Apple TV horror-comedy as Sarah Westcott Warren, the woman at the center of the town’s centuries-long curse. Sarah is the wife of Widow’s Bay town founder Richard Warren (Hamish Linklater), who appears in the series’ flashback episode.
As viewers get a look into 1702 Widow’s Bay, the reason behind the town’s eeriness and mystery is unveiled. Speaking with IndieWire about her Emmy nomination, Gilpin said the hit show is “what people f—ing want.”

“I feel like because I’m not an actual part of the real show, I can brag about it and it’s not bragging about myself,” she told the outlet. “I’m so glad that the exhausted people that I worked with who were like, ‘I hope we made something good. I don’t know. I’m so tired,’ they made the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen.”
The nod marked the Glow actress’ fourth Emmy nomination and first win. Widow’s Bay has earned a total of 19 Emmy nods this year, including in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.

As for the other nominees, Curtis, 67, appeared in the fifth and final season of The Bear as Donna Berzatto, the chaotic matriarch of the Berzatto family. As the mother of Mikey (Jon Bernthal), Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Sugar (Abby Elliott), Donna aims to support her kids and mend their fractured relationships.
For her portrayal of Donna, Curtis has received three Emmy nominations, winning Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2024.

In Hacks, Bibb appeared as Monica, the free-spirited wife of Kelly Kilpatrick (Jones), in the season 5 episode “Montecito.” In an interview with Gold Derby, The White Lotus actress said working on the HBO comedy series was “like an acting master class.” This marked Bibb’s first-ever Emmy nomination.
“I feel lucky that [creators] Paul [Downs], Lucia [Aniello] and Jen [Statsky] thought of me for this,” she told the outlet. “I mean, they really had me at Cherry Jones and Hacks. I was like, “I’ll come read the phone book.”

Jones, 69, who plays comedian Kelly, told Out Magazine that while filming the “Montecito” episode of Hacks, the show creators said, “in all sincerity, ‘We think this may be the funniest episode of the series.’” She admitted she thought to herself, “Holy s—. That’s good.”
The actress has previously been nominated for seven Emmys, winning three. Jones has won in the Outstanding Guest Actress category twice for her roles as Nan Pierce in Succession in 2020 and Holly in The Handmaid’s Tale in 2019. In 2009, Jones won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for 24.

Metcalf, 71, first appeared in season 2 of Hacks as the burned-out tour bus driver and manager, Weed. Though Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) fired Weed that season, Metcalf reprised her role for the show’s fifth and final season.
Throughout her career, Metcalf has earned 14 Emmy nominations and has won four, including Outstanding Guest Actress for her role in Hacks in 2022. Her other three wins were for her role as Jackie in Roseanne in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

In the show’s first episode, viewers were introduced to Deborah’s estranged daughter DJ Vance, played by Olson, 51. The High Point actress has often appeared in Hacks since its premiere and has been nominated three times for her portrayal of Deborah’s messy yet resilient daughter.

Weedman, 57, plays Jo Pezzimenti in Hacks. The actress told Variety that her role as the eccentric mayor of Las Vegas was liberating, and she’s grateful to series creators Aniello, Statsky and Downs for the opportunity. Weedman’s Emmy nomination was the first in her career.
“We’ve had a pretty magical relationship because what I really dream of is people letting me play and be excited about it,” she told the outlet. “They’re so good about giving me a chance to [try something] … They just gave me this room around me and it’s what I want. It’s so what I crave.”
The 78th Emmy Awards (Creative Arts) are being held on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be edited into a single broadcast that airs Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX and streams on Hulu the next day. The Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and Peacock Monday, Sept. 14, with host Mariska Hargitay.
