Another season of Tracker is in the works.
In January 2026, while season 3 was still airing, the hit CBS action drama was renewed for season 4, per Variety. And Justin Hartley, who has starred as survivalist Colter Shaw since the show first aired, shared that it would be the most pivotal one yet.
“We’ll come back with something — we already have it, it’s pretty incredible,” he told TheWrap in May 2026 after season 3 uncovered more about the death of Colter’s father, Ashton (Lee Tergesen), and the role his estranged brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles), did or didn’t play.
The This Is Us alum added, “Honestly, I think it’s our most ambitious season to date, but I think it’s also our richest one, in terms of character and backstory and where we’re taking Colter.”
Here’s everything to know about Tracker season 4, including what Justin Hartley has said about his character’s future.

Yes, CBS renewed Tracker for a fourth season in January 2026.
What will Tracker season 4 be about?
While the official logline for Tracker‘s fourth season hasn’t been released, fans can expect to witness the fallout from Russell’s decision to leave Colter high and dry at the end of season 3.
And of course, how the revelations about Ashton’s death set the stage for Russell’s next chapter.
“We have spent the first three years unpacking this story about what happened to Colter’s father — who was involved, who wasn’t involved — and that’s changed throughout the course of the show,” Hartley said in his interview with TheWrap.
He added, “First being that Colter thought his brother was involved, because his mother told him as much. Come to find out, that’s not necessarily the case. So all of that kind of comes to a head and we get some answers to all that stuff at the end of Season 3.”

The cast of Tracker‘s fourth season hasn’t officially been announced. But Hartley confirmed that he had begun filming by sharing a photo of the Tracker clapperboard on his Instagram Stories in June 2026, per Bleeding Cool.
Other cast members like Ackles, Fiona Rene, Cassady McClincy Zhang and Sofia Pernas — who is Hartley’s real-life wife — have not confirmed their involvement but are expected to return.
When did Tracker season 4 start filming?
Deadline reported in May 2026 that Tracker would relocate from Vancouver to Los Angeles to film season 4, and would start production in late June.
Hartley told TheWrap that he didn’t think the filming location would “impact the show at all.”
“Our show is a road show,” the actor said. “Our character goes from town to town across the United States of America and meets people from all different walks of life and helps them out. These strangers become kind of his family in a way.”
He added, “To be able to shoot in a different place that gives us different landscapes, we’re able to go to places — New York, D.C., the desert, Texas, the beach. It just opens up our world in terms of landscape, which is such a big character of our show.”
