Amal Clooney is opening up about how her career and personal life have changed since marrying George Clooney.
Amal, 48, was a successful international human rights lawyer before she met George, 65, whom she married in 2014, and has continued to advocate for the causes important to her through her Clooney Foundation for Justice, which she co-founded with her husband in 2016.
Still, her life changed drastically after the two wed and welcomed fraternal twins, Alexander and Ella, 9, in 2017.

"I used to have my work life and my personal life, and they could look quite different, and I was able to not have them mix and then I got married and that changed quite a lot," Amal shared while speaking at a Cartier Dialogues event in Bangkok on June 9. "And at first I was kind of conscious of that one-dimensional view where I felt like, well, I can't be seen wearing this dress or doing this because I'm in front of a judge on Monday."
She continued, "But you know it just doesn't matter as much as living your life, and ultimately if you're good at what you do, that is going to shine through or not. I wouldn't allow that factor to stop me from doing things that were important for my family or for my relationship. It was easier when I could decide what kind of exposure I got. It was something new to navigate."
Through their foundation, Amal and George have provided legal assistance to young girls and women in underprivileged countries in Africa and throughout the world, specifically Malawi, where Amal says one in 10 girls under 15 are forced into marriage, with only 800 total lawyers in the country.

While Amal frequently traveled to more "dangerous" areas of the world for her work, George told PEOPLE in October 2025 that the pair have cut back since they welcomed their kids.
"You can't just go swinging as you used to," Clooney said. "Amal and I both had to change our goals on where we would go. I used to enjoy going to places that were dangerous. I liked going into the Nuba Mountains and Darfur and Abyei, and there [were] war zones."
"And I found it exhilarating. And Amal was in a bunker in Beirut for two years doing the court cases. And we had to make decisions not to do that once we had kids," the actor continued. "You had to change sort of what the rules were."
