Jenna Bush Hager is opening up about one of the "weirdest" ways she got a look at her former home.
On the Thursday, June 18, episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Hager, 44, recounted to co-host Sheinelle Jones that just one night prior, she was driving with her family when they decided to do "the weirdest thing" while visiting a town where they used to live.
According to Hager, one of her daughters, 13-year-old Mila, asked if they could go past the family's former home.
"Mila goes, 'Let's drive past our old house,'" Hager said, per Parade. "And I said, 'OK, let's do it.'"
"Right when we got there, somebody in the window waved," she recalled. "So then you have to choose one of two options. You've got to pull over, or you're a creepy person."

Although visiting their old house was her kids' idea, the Today co-host said they were still embarrassed by their mom's decision to go through with it.
"Mila and [10-year-old] Poppy were hiding," she said. "They were like, 'What are you doing? Creeper. Don't stop.' "
However, according to the former first daughter, the family that now resides in the home came outside to greet them — and even invited them inside to visit.

"We walked through our old house that we lived in for a long time," Hager said, explaining that the home she was talking about is the same one she, husband Henry Hager and Mila were living in when they brought Poppy and their son Hal, now 6, home from the hospital.
"We looked at it, and I was like, 'Girls, do you remember this? Do you remember?', " she recounted.

Hager has lived at a number of locations over the years, including the White House when her father George W. Bush was president from 2001 to 2009. Some of her previous residences have been in her home state of Texas, as well as Manhattan and Long Island. She and her family have lived in Connecticut since 2022.
Last year, the TV co-host shared that she still dreams of moving again after leaving the Today show.
“I have this sort of dream — I just think everybody should have chapters in their lives — I have a dream — I don't know how realistic it is — but when the Jenna & Friends chapter comes to a close…” Bush Hager began during an August 2025 episode of the show.
“Well, why would that ever happen?” guest co-host Matt Rogers cut in.
“Well.. linear television, baby!” Bush Hager said, laughing and shrugging. “Who knows? But when I'm ready to go to my next chapter, I think it would be so nice to move back to Texas and let my kids — I went to a big public high school — have a different life.”
The daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush grew up in Austin, Texas, and said she'd happily return to the city to raise her three kids with Hager.
“Isn't Austin great? I love Austin,” Bush Hager gushed.
