An armed man was allegedly holding a pregnant woman hostage while he led Massachusetts State Police officers on a chase through rush hour traffic in the Boston area.
At about 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, State Police received a report that a suspected hostage was being held by a firearm in an SUV on Interstate 93 Northbound in Quincy, Mass. Boston.com reported, citing police. When police spotted the vehicle, the driver didn’t stop, and the chase began.
The suspect crashed into eight vehicles during the chase, police said. He came to a stop in Milton, Mass., and tried to escape on foot. Police said the suspect’s vehicle reached 30 miles per hour, WHDH reported.

“Troopers apprehended the suspect, facilitated medical care for the victim, who is a pregnant woman, and recovered a firearm from the suspect vehicle,” MSP said in a statement to CBS Boston.
State Police identified Dominic Hampton-Boyd, 31, of Dorchester, Mass., as the suspect. He is expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Thursday, Aug. 13, CBS Boston reported.
Kristen Eck, traffic reporter for WBZ NewsRadio 1030, shared footage of the chase on her Facebook page.
“It was like something out of a James Bond movie,” Eck told CBS Boston, later adding that she had never seen anything like it in her 29 years working for WBZ Radio.
“Normally you wouldn’t think that somebody would continue to try to escape through a traffic jam through morning rush hour traffic, but this person was very determined to get away,” Eck said.
The pregnant woman’s current condition is unknown. The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident, CBS Boston reported.
