A grieving woman is caught in a complicated relationship with a married couple in Caroline Mason’s next book.
PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the cover of the author’s novel An Endless Cycle of Evenings, out in spring 2027 through Disney Books imprint Hyperion Avenue.
Carson, the book’s protagonist, is a 25-year-old trying to live in the aftermath of her mother’s death. Carson’s way of coping with her grief is spending late nights out at bars, downing cheap drinks and meeting strangers, per the novel’s synopsis.

It’s on one of these outings that she meets Jasper Stewart, a novelist who gives Carson a look into the possibilities of adulthood. At the same time, Carson is offered a nannying job — her new employer, however, is Jasper’s wife, Camille.
As Carson falls into the couple’s orbit and begins a situationship with another nanny, she’s caught in a messy journey of “desire, grief and [a] self-destruction blur.” And when the chaos of Carson’s life takes over, she must decide whether or not she’ll let it bring her down.
Mason, who runs the Bookstagram account @literarycrushes, is a self-described “literary fiction enthusiast.” Her own novel stemmed from a personal experience, not unlike her protagonist.

“I started writing An Endless Cycle of Evenings the year after my own mother’s death,” Mason says. “I wanted to capture the specific headiness of being lost in grief and the messiness of your twenties, when it feels like the only way forward is to chase the tranquilizing cycle of euphoria and oblivion.”

“I wanted to explore how an affair could be a misguided expression of loss and how the desire to find a path toward adulthood could lead Carson not only into a relationship with an older man, but also into an obsession with his enigmatic wife, a woman she loathes, longs to be, and longs to be mothered by,” the author adds.
Hyperion Avenue calls the novel, “a tender, funny, and ultimately redemptive love letter to Brooklyn and a compassionate salute to the beautiful disasters of early adulthood.”
