Dwayne Johnson’s 3 Daughters Make Rare Red Carpet Appearance at “Moana” Premiere

The actor has reprised his role as Maui for the live-action remake

Dwayne Johnson was joined by a few familiar faces at the Moana premiere.

Johnson attended the premiere of the live-action adaptation in Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 7, alongside his mother, Ata, his daughters, Jasmine, 10, and Tiana, 8; his wife, Lauren Hashian; his eldest daughter, Simone, 24; and his ex-wife and Simone’s mother, Dany Garcia. Garcia’s husband, Dave Rienzi, also attended the event.

Jasmine and Tiana wore coordinating blue dresses, both featuring large red hibiscus designs and matching hair accessories, to the premiere. Simone sported a black midi dress with a slit, paired with black open-toe pumps.

The red-carpet appearance of Johnson’s younger daughters comes nearly two years after they attended the Moana 2 premiere in November 2024 on Oahu, Hawaii. During that event, Jasmine and Tiana adorably matched in orange, pink, and yellow tie-dye dresses, while Simone wore a long floral dress and a pendant choker.

The live-action Moana sees Johnson playing Maui, the demigod he voiced in the original 2016 animated film and its 2024 sequel.

In 2019, Johnson told PEOPLE what happened when Jasmine learned that her dad voiced Maui.

“I said, ‘You know, that’s Daddy’s voice, and I’m going to show you,’ ” the actor told PEOPLE at the time. “Maui starts singing, and I then start singing, and within 10 seconds she’s trying to put a pillow over my mouth and says, ‘You’re ruining the song.’ ”

While they weren’t initially aware their father was Maui, Johnson told PEOPLE in December 2024 that Maui is his girls’ favorite character.

The two young girls also voiced two characters in Moana 2. “They loved it,” he previously told E! News about the girls’ reactions when they first heard their cameo in theaters.

“Loved, loved it. They hadn’t seen it before. They knew they were in it, and they were sitting on the edge of their seats, literally, and just waiting,” Johnson noted. “Their scene came up, and they’re just like, ‘That’s me!’ ” he recalled. “It was so cool.”

“That’s the good stuff of fame,” he added, joking, “And nepotism.”

During a press conference in Rio de Janeiro on July 2, Johnson confirmed that a third animated Moana movie was already in development, Variety reported.

Johnson added that Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller will return as writers. Bush has worked on the two animated Moana films and the live-action remake, while Miller joined to co-write Moana 2.

The live-action remake of the 2016 film hits theaters on Friday, July 10. Johnson is joined by newcomer Catherine Laga’aia as the title character, John Tui, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen and Jemaine Clement.
