The “Perfect” singer-songwriter, 35, and wife Cherry Seaborn stepped out for his longtime friend Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on July 3. The pair were spotted in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood before heading uptown to Madison Square Garden for the expected celebration. Sheeran rocked a powder blue tux with a T-shirt and Nike sneakers, while Seaborn wore a yellow dress with platform heels and a silver clutch.
Swift and Kelce, both 36, first announced their engagement on social media on Aug. 26, 2025, after more than two years together — and Sheeran, who is known for being largely off the grid, made headlines after finding out about it the same way the rest of the world did.

But the “Bad Habits” singer — who hasn’t used a cell phone since 2015 — saw Swift “a week after” the proposal, he later revealed in a November 2025 Access Hollywood interview. There was plenty to share, he added, explaining that the pair “had like a four-hour catch-up” when they crossed paths after the big news.

In the same interview, Sheeran also shared a bit of insight into his friendship with the "Opalite" singer — which began more than a decade ago in 2012 after he served as the opening act on her Red Tour.
“I'm not self-conscious about my relationship with her,” he said of Swift. “We've been friends for very, very many years. We're super close, and we see each other when we see each other.”
Swift and Sheeran solidified their love when, during the Red Tour, they “bonded as friends and collaborators and performers,” the English musician recalled on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast last year.
Sheeran — who also has a professional relationship with Swift, having teamed up with her on “The Joker and the Queen,” “Everything Has Changed” and Red vault track “Run” — also compared his relationship to Swift to that of a “sibling” during the December 2025 podcast appearance.

Explaining a bit more about what the duo’s friendship looks like now that the stars are both in their mid-30s, Sheeran — who is a dad to two young kids with wife Cherry Seaborn — said that despite their “very transient lives,” he still manages to see Swift “from time to time.”
When he does see the Life of a Showgirl songstress, he explained on the podcast, “You just kind of, like, lock back in and reconnect. It's like no time has passed.” Added Sheeran, "It's very similar to a sibling.”

And Swift's wedding weekend actually coincides with a milestone for Sheeran and Seaborn: the anniversary of their first date. While they'd known each other since high school, the pair didn't link up romantically until July 4, 2015, when Sheeran invited Seaborn to Swift's annual Independence Day bash.
“It was around then, and we reconnected. I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor’s 4th of July party. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history," Sheeran told PEOPLE in 2017.
Similar to Sheeran’s friendship with the “Cruel Summer” performer, Swift and Kelce’s origins also tie back to a tour.

The newlyweds first met after Kelce, who had unsuccessfully tried to give the singer a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her Eras Tour shows, publicly declared his interest in her on his New Heights podcast in July 2023. Shortly afterward, they began seeing each other.
The NFL star and the singer later confirmed their romance in October 2023 when they were seen holding hands at a Saturday Night Live afterparty and announced their engagement nearly two years later in a joint Instagram post.
Alongside pictures of Kelce getting down on one knee and the pair embracing each other in an outdoor proposal, Swift captioned the post, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨."
