Jacob Elordi is revealing the details of his gruesome death scene in Euphoria, and the unique bond he formed with the snake that takes his character’s life.
Elordi, 28, discussed his character Nate Jacobs’ dramatic exit in the final season of the hit HBO drama in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Sunday, July 20, hosted by Colman Domingo, his Euphoria costar.
“I got locked in a coffin for two days straight with prosthetics and a fake tongue, and I couldn’t see out of my eyes,” the Frankenstein star explained. “And then Sam put snakes into the coffin.”
Though Elordi filmed in the coffin with a nonvenomous boa constrictor, his character Nate Jacobs is killed by a rattlesnake in the shocking scene.
When Domingo, 56, asked if Elordi was “fine” being locked in with a live snake for the shoot, the actor replied that he was okay with being left in the coffin.
“Why is it because because you’re from Australia and like anything can anything can kill you in Australia?” Domingo joked.
“He had a very nice personality,” Elordi said of the snake, earning laughs from the audience. “He was very docile and very sleepy. I don’t think he’d had a lot of sun.”
Elordi then recalled “nudging him” to make the snake more “active” for the scene, “because he was meant to be threatening.”

“But he was like a little dog,” Elordi said. “He just kept curling up at my feet. He’d drop down the tube and then he’d sort of slither down, and then he’d find a little warm spot.”

The Dog Stars actor quipped that the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, “brought me back to torture me,” adding that filming the show’s third and final season “was like, six weeks of me just getting beat by a seven-foot guy.”

Elordi starred in the series as the troubled athlete Nate Jacobs, with a focus on his relationship with his girlfriend Maddy (Alexa Demie) and his dysfunctional family, most notably his father Cal Jacobs, who was played by the late Eric Dane.
Elordi’s latest project, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, hits theaters on Aug. 28.
