Jane Seymour is happy in love!

The actress, 75, opened up about her engagement to musician and physician John Zambetti while speaking with PEOPLE at The Hollywood Reporter and SAG-AFTRA’s 6th Annual Emmy Nominees Night in Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The couple confirmed their engagement in a June interview with PEOPLE. Shortly before, Seymour sparked speculation after she was spotted wearing a diamond ring.

Sharing an update on their life together, Seymour said, “We’re extremely happy, whatever it is.”

The TV star admitted that she was surprised by the timing of the proposal because she and Zambetti are both in their 70s. However, their ages also make them unafraid to embrace their romance.

“We celebrate our anniversary every month,” Seymour revealed. “I get red roses of some form, anywhere in the world, whatever’s happening. Something like that. We’re not going to wait for years. I mean, why wait for years at our age? We’ve jumped straight into living together for the last three years and are having an amazing life together.”

She added, “I’m very, very lucky.”

The Emmy winner also shared insight into her unique engagement ring, which features two connected diamonds.

“It’s called a toi et moi ring, and it’s a vintage thing,” she told PEOPLE. “Apparently, Napoleon gave one to [his first wife] Joséphine. That’s how far back it goes.”

On June 10, Seymour addressed her new bling on an episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.

“What I really love is it has little diamonds here, going toward the main one. Instead of a solitaire — I’m not alone, we’re together — and we had a life before,” she said.

As for what the ring symbolizes, the Captains and the Kings alum shared, “All I can say to the answer is I have never been happier in my life, and I’m absolutely committed to this happiness forever. What’s that called?”

In an earlier interview with PEOPLE, the couple spoke about getting engaged at their Malibu, Calif., home.

Zambetti recalled, “I got down on my knees, the whole thing. I had the ring hidden in the safe, pulled out the ring. I opened the box, and the ring popped out of the box, onto the bed. Then I had to climb under the bed, and then I couldn’t get out, and she had to get out of the bed and pull me out of the bed.”

Seymour cheekily added, “And we weren’t wearing any clothes.”

She continued, “Serious bedhead involved. But the funniest part was that he couldn’t get up afterwards. His knee was now stuck from being under the bed, and I’m not strong enough to pull him up because he weighs almost twice what I do. We looked at one another and started laughing hysterically.”

The couple began dating in 2023 after being introduced by their children.

While Seymour has her sights set on marital bliss, she attended the recent event to celebrate the upcoming 2026 Emmy Awards on Monday, Sept. 14.

“Some of my favorite shows are nominated,” she told PEOPLE. “I’m a huge fan of The Pitt. I know it’s won lots of times, but it’s extraordinary. I just love coming to celebrate good television and great performers.”
