Johnson reflects on her and her husband’s success on the show, joking that they often 'flip-flop' with how far they go in the competition

Jenna Johnson and husband Val Chmerkovskiy have both had amazing Dancing with the Stars partners over the years, but Chmerkovskiy's most recent pairing was especially "magical," according to Johnson.
The 31-year-old dancer reflected on her and Chmerkovskiy's time on the competition series in a recent interview with Woman's World, joking that they often "flip-flop" years of success.
"We either have a winner or we get eliminated. They just switch us every year,” Johnson said.

Last season, Johnson was paired with Corey Feldman and they came in 14th place. Meanwhile, Chmerkovskiy, 39, was paired with Alix Earle and the duo made it to the finale, ultimately coming in second.
“It was so incredible because Alix Earle is one of a kind. She is not only talented, but she is so kind and sweet," Johnson shared. "And I’m happy that she decided to do the show and she got to be paired with Val, because I think the partnership was just so magical."
“He pushed her and she just was open to it,” she added. “I feel like America has fallen in love with her. And they created some of my favorite dances Val has ever done on the show. They were such an epic partnership to watch.”

Chmerkovskiy joined DWTS in 2011 and has won the Mirrorball Trophy alongside partners Laurie Hernandez, Rumer Willis and Xochitl Gomez.
Johnson, for her part, joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars in 2014. In the years since, she has been paired up with Adam Rippon, JoJo Siwa, Joey Graziadei and Karamo Brown, to name a few. She won the show on her seasons with Rippon and Graziadei.
The couple got married in 2019 and shares one child.
