NEED TO KNOW
- Judy Gold served as a writer and producer on The Rosie O’Donnell Show from 1996 to 1997
- The comedian, 63, looked back at Madonna’s guest appearance on the show, shortly after welcoming her daughter Lourdes in Oct. 1996
- Gold offered her infant son Henry, who was almost the exact same age as Lourdes, for a funny on-air moment
Judy Gold once lent her baby to Madonna as part of a television gag.
The comedian and actress, 63, recently appeared on SiriusXM's The Julia Cunningham Show where she chatted about her time as a writer and producer on The Rosie O'Donnell Show. She recalled how Madonna made the show her first public appearance after giving birth to daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon.
"Madonna, when Lourdes was born, all the papers thought Madonna was bringing Lourdes, so this was her first TV show after giving birth," she recalled.
"My son Henry was born. They had the same due date… he was born right around the same time as Lourdes. And so Madonna is coming on the show and they say to me, 'Listen everyone thinks Madonna is bringing Lourdes on the show. Can we use Henry?' My Henry, as a prop baby. And I talked to my partner and we're like, 'Sure.' "

"And I'll never forget, we're backstage and Madonna is holding Henry and she's like, 'What does he like?' I said, 'He loves when I sing to him.' And she starts singing and he starts crying. I'm like, 'Great. Thanks, Henry,' " she laughed.
"So he was like 6 weeks old. But she brought him out and Rosie's like, 'What a cutie.' And the audience is going crazy because they think it's Lourdes… And Rosie's like, 'Yeah, but that's not your baby.' And she's like, 'I know, but isn't she really cute?' "
O'Donnell then called Gold out to grab Henry. "Rosie called me out to go take the baby and I took the baby. And all of my mother's friends called my mother and were like, 'You didn't tell me Judith had a baby.' Yes. 'Cause I'm gay and I had a baby and she didn't want to tell anyone," she explained.
"She'd tell people my roommate had a baby and I adopted it. Yeah, 'cause that happens. You get a roommate, they get pregnant, and then you adopt the baby. So that was like a major coming out for my mother."

The "Ray of Light" singer recently offered rare comments on her bond with her eldest child, whom she shares with fitness trainer Carlos Leon.
In a cover story interview for Interview magazine, the Queen of Pop revealed that Leon approached her with an unexpected idea: writing a song together. What started as a creative collaboration soon became something much more meaningful.
"For instance, the song I wrote with my daughter, Lola," Madonna said while discussing the inspiration behind the record. "She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship."
Their latest collaboration, however, carried a deeper purpose than simply making music. Madonna said the songwriting process became a meaningful step forward in their relationship and ultimately helped shape the direction of her new album.
"It was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record," Madonna said.
